How do you secure your helmet when parked?

I simply place mine on the rear seat between trunk and backrest. No locks no tie downs. Never had a problem for 60+ years but then again if I do it is an excuse to buy a new one. Yes I ride with an expensive helmet. (Arai)

I learned last year at SpyderFest how foolish it was for me to leave mine on the saddle at the host motel. I found myself parked until Pitbull brought me a loaner. I wear a 3XL (& larger), so the 2XL loaner would hardly go on, but I managed until I found something I could wear to get me back home to Georgia. I then ordered a 4XL replacement plus another J&M headset & cord. $500 later I was set.

No longer will I leave my helmet out for someone to take, nor will I boast about it either.

I am also in the camp where I do not use any type of helmet lock. It does depend where and when, as to whether or not I leave it on the seat or put it out of sight in the frunk or saddle bags.

I would not leave my helmet out when going into the big towns, Anchorage, Fairanks, Wasilla. Other places, the bike is usually visible from where I am--just in case.

We have Nolan's with communicators attached, so the helmets would be a good haul if they were to get snarffed. :thumbup:

I did it the old way in the frunk and trunk until I got Lidlox. They work great and look good.

I have a pair of Lidlox and they work well. If I'm alone, I can put my modular helmet in the frunk (it won't fit in any other compartment). When my wife is with me - also a modular helmet - and/or there is luggage, we need more. The Lidlox are quick, easy and cool pieces of engineering.

We have used the Helmet Guardian locks on both of our Spyder RT Limited's. :thumbup: The BRP design has a lot to be desired! nojoke We have Nolan helmets and utilize the helmet "T" extension when using the Helmet Guardian locks. Just need to be a little careful when hanging the helmet on the exhaust side so it doesn't touch the exhaust!

Also, we use the travel cover and place helmets on seat when raining - works well...nobody knows they're there and never had a problem.

If I don't have room in the frunk or right side bag I use a retractable cable lock thru the gab bar and set the helmets on the seat.

Has anyone come up with another way of securing helmets besides placing them in the frunk or the cable lock through the passenger grab rails?

Do a search for "helmet guardian" I've used them for years with great success.

I just bought lid lox, they look awesome but I haven't been able to put on yet, bike comes out of storage if it ever stops snowing

Honestly after looking at the "plastic" hooks under the seat.
Sorry..... if someone wanted your helmet bad enough, it would be far too easy to pull hard enough to break those off. They are flimsy plastic hooks.

One thing I've observed in nearly 3 years of having a spyder: people that would not think of touching anything Harley/other 2 wheels, somehow think it's ok to make themselves at home on a spyder.

You are absolutely correct. Today is the 2 day having my F3 and I came out from having lunch to find the left passenger peg down which makes me think someone put it down so they could set on the F3. I have been riding 2 wheel bikes for over 40 years and never had anyone mess with them or my helmets.

I guess I will need to start taking my guard dog to protect it:roflblack:

Which is why I installed a Alarm system with proximity sensor so that anyone walking into the "Y" it goes off.
The alarm has a remote that lets me know this happened.

I HAVE walked out of a store to find some dip sh*t on my Spyder.....
Another time a Mom had put a kid on it and the kid was playing "horsey"... Seriously WHAT are these people thinking?

Anyway since I added the alarm, no issue.....

Securing helmet

I installed the lidlox helmet retainer and I think they work great if someone wants it bad enough to cut it off I can't think of anything that would work.

Most of the time I just leave it on the passenger pilion. Never had a problem with that with any bike I've owned. When I'm with my wife or in an iffy area my helmet (Shoei) goes in the frunk and hers goes in the right saddlebag.
