How do you remove the Catalytic converter?

Looked at the stock muffler to see if removing the cat was a simple task. After I removed it from the :spyder2: GS I am stumped. Do I need to drill the rivets to open the can? Any suggestions? Could not find any threads on this topic. Thanks

i say go ahead and try it, worst case u can put a cherry bomb back on. lots of people around here don't have a problem throwing down 800 for new exhaust,i do.:2thumbs:

I also don't want to spend big bucks on an aftermarket muffler. Others have said that they removed the cat. I think mine in plugged due to bad plug wires. I was hoping that someone would tell me how they did it. I have found almost new stock exhaust on ebay. That may be my other option.

I heard that if you take a long drill bit with a drill bit extension and drill straight into each exhaust port at the rear end of the muffler you'll open up the baffles and the cat. For off road use only Just like the Hindle is for off road use only. As are all aftermarket mufflers with out a cat :roflblack:

That's the Street Magic SPX-15 system, it does have a nice sound at an afforadable price! :thumbup:
