How do you '24 RT riders pair BT headsets with Android Phones?

I am a total noob when it comes to BT on a bike. All my time in the last 20 years was spent on a 2005 BMW K1200LT with a hard-wired intercom and an audio plug for my old phone. I now have the Sena SRL2 in our Shoei Neotec 2 helmets and a new Samsung S24+. Then I buy a 2024 RTL and am trying out different things. I have paired the phone to the helmet and can listen to Sirius XM on an ap on the phone and hear the music in the headset; I can make and receive phone calls in the helmet. Everything I have read here tells me to pair the phone to the bike and the helmet to the bike. Well, I did that, but the music only comes out of the bike's speakers, while the dash displays the song info, with nothing in the headset... I have not tried to make or receive calls in this configuration yet, but I will try that tomorrow.

Just what is the census here for how to pair this up when using an Android phone? I am of the mind-set that my best bet is to just cut the bike out of the picture and go phone to headset. What say you all?

Depends on what headset you have purchased. There should be instructions with your headset on how to pair with your phone whether Android or IOS.

The PDF copy of the Operator's Guide for my 2024 Spyder has this on Page 49 in the Preferences section at the bottom of the page:

The Preferences applet is used for the following:

– Accessing to the Audio menu

• Configure the audio output (headset or speaker (if equipped)
• Access to Fade/Balance configuration
• Auto volume control

Thanks racoon, I missed that in the manual and will check it out today.

And the rest of the story...

Went back and read the info on page 49. Got the audio into the headsets. Made and received phone calls. All through the bike. I like it as all the info is on the screen including my contacts and the music I am playing. This is way better than the old wired set up I was so used to. Now if the temperature would just get back up there so I could get out and ride this thing I would be a very happy camper.

I rely on the headset for 1) communicating with the wife and 2) connecting with the phone. I've learned that if I want these two priority connections to work, don't pair with anything else.

I’ve tried every combination of pairings I can think of, Apple Maps and Pandora, IHeart music comes through my headset (HJC Smart Helmet) and all map directions do too. Only problem I can’t solve is phone calls. I can make and receive calls but the person (wife) on the other end sounds like a “robotic” voice and she says when I talk, I sound like a high-pitched “child’s” voice but very fast.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Do I need a new headset? I have a IPhone 14 Max and have downloaded the newest Version of BRP”s software, V3.1.0

Try to update the iPhone and ACP on the iPhone. Sounds like a BT driver issue.

I dont use iPhones but I do follow the Sena 50S instructions that say to pair the helmet set to the phone and then the phone to the bike. Works on my Samsung galaxy 20 5g phone. I do update the phone regularly and BT is reporting version 5.2 on the phone....
