How did this pipe ever make any power???

One of the first things I did when I got my Spyder was change the pipe on it. I bought a stock Yamaha Warrior pipe and welded a 3" 90 on it. It came out pretty cool and felt like it pulled a little harder.

The other day I cut my stock pipe apart and I just now cut the stock 90 out of it and I can't believe what I'm seeing here. Have you ever seen anything like this? Talk about restricted. :

Actually, they aren't' as restrictive as they may appear but they don't do you any favors in the HP area either.

This will glow red (like the cigarette lighter in your car when it pops out) and gets extremely hot. The tree huggers love them!

Goes a long way to explaining those mysterious burn marks on many of the early production Spyders, doesn't it?

What made me look at the dates, was that Lamont's bikes now don't have the converters in the mufflers.

Hey, Bob. It was a legimate question. I can read - I know it's an old post. That's why I asked if the images were still available. Some of us still ride the old hardware and would like to get info. Find someone elses post to gripe about.
