• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How about a lift?

Okay, so I have my lift now, but where do I place it so that I don't damage anything and it lifts the bike properly? I'm needing to take off both the front wheels to put on my mudflap lights and fender tips lights. Is it a bit tipsy once on the lift? I did buy a couple jack stands just in case.
 
Always use two forms of support when you jack up a vehicle- the jack can be one, but place the jack stands so they make things steadier and prevent your getting crushed if the jack fails. It happens.

What kind of lift are you using?

I use an ATV lift (see enclosed photo).

I put it in from either side, closer to the front than the rear-- right on the main frame. Look underneath and you can see it. Make sure you are forward enough to clear the pipes near where the frame is bent upwards (about center of the bike)-- then lift her up.

I've never used jackstands under mine as this lift holds it nice and steady--- and I only jack it up just enough to get the tires off, etc.
 
The lift

I have an ATV lift very similar to the in your picture. I just want to make sure it is supported well because it will be without tires and lifted for at least a couple hours as I am also changing rims and will need to run to Big O. I just want to keep myself safe and not damage my :spyder2: . I don't plan on having it lifted very high either.

AAAAHHHH!!! :yikes: You've seen my garage. There is no way it's wide enough for me to get that jack under my Spyder. I have to use jack stands and a regular jack (which is less than 4 inches tall).

I have checked out that jack at another friend's house and I really wish it would work here for me. Until I win the lottery, I'll have to stick with my current method.
 
The lift from Sears is what I have. I also have one similar to the one shown in the pict above. The Sears lift goes low enough and I like it better because it has a foot pump. Easier to hold on to the :spyder2:while you jack it up.:thumbup:
