• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

soo why are you there instead of here where it's cooler?? ( it did get up to 91 here yesterday tho:roflblack:)

What type of humidity do you have there with that heat? Just curious if it is like a dry desert heat or a steamy jungle heat.

We had our first triple digit weather this week also. But our humidity is about 10%. I bet you have some really big bugs in Vietnam. :yikes:

The parts i traveled in the temps were 95/100f And 100% humidity 3 months of rain, 3 months of sun, and do it all over again ,Like the Hooke Pokey... With a little Willy Peter mix in for effect.....

What exactly is a Willy Peter?

Thanks for the info. Not looking at a map I was kind of hoping for the OP's sake that some areas would have lower humidity levels so the 100 degrees would at least be bearable. I know how it feels around here when it is 100 degrees with 90% humidity and don't wish those conditions on anybody.

I wonder what impact the constantly high level of humidity has on the Spyder components?

Hot Hanoi Nights = Could be 40 ~ 41 today

Thursday May 16, 2013 is looking very much like another HOT ONE now at 2:15 PM it is 40 outside.

Now for a few answers to some replies....

ThreeFeet = I am teaching English to Vietnamese children (3 to 6 yrs) now.
SpyderWolf = Yes it can be very Humid, especially so near the lakes. I don’t think the humidity will cause near as much damage as salt air or riding in salty road conditions
Bruiser = Sounds like you spent time here some years past?
SpyderAnn01 = At 10% you hardly notice the temperature. OH YES!! There are cockroaches the size if your thumb here….. I am sure you know the song = The Worms Crawl in The Worms Crawl out. Change it to COCKROACHES.
Speaking of BUGS, in China Guangzhou are I found earthworms 12”and even longer. Centipedes 9” BE WARNED do not let them bite you POISONOUS.
Flamingobabe = Taking my Roadster to VN was my goal, but after coming here I found the roads are very poor condition. Manhole covers can be 3” to 5” up or down from road surface. Import tax could be as much as 90%. Shipping is not so bad maybe $1,000 to $1,500.

I don't want to destroy my Toy here in Nam. I am now waiting for some results of an exam for further decisions in my life.

I would like to wish you the best with your teaching, results of the exam, and whatever your future holds. It sounds like you are already living some great adventures while teaching children in other countries. That is cool.

I hope your teaching the children proper 2013 english.

Mr Looney...Good for you for taking your time and talents and sharing them with the children of Vietnam....hoping for good results.....keep us posted on your travels...til we meet

Yes, I have been in SEA. 1972. Along with a few thousand others. BUGS! The rice bugs are huge. When you hear them coming you better duck! Snakes, some pretty venomous species. Spyders, huge tarantulas, but harmless. They just scare the :cus: out of you. Geckos, we made sure we had them in our hoochs and tents. But my favorite, the Bearcat. Didn't get to see many but when I did I made sure I had something for them to eat. Love those critters. Vietnam and Thailand are beautiful countries.

Praying everthing works out for you.

I looked up the Bearcat. That's a cute critter. Was it friendly? What other animal would compare to it here? Is there one?

Cavman, the Bearcat (Bintourong) is more closely associated with the mongoose, skunks and weasles. They are not agressive but like all wild animals will bite and the do have some long sharp claws that help them climb trees. They eat mostly fruit but will take small birds, rodents and eggs. Their smell or scent has been compared to popcorn or cornchips. Really neat animals.
