• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hot foot fixed....

Good Thinking and Why "Hot Foot" Doesn't Bother Me

I did more than this on a $22,000 Harley, and a lot more on a $22,000 BMW dual sport.

Dan ... simple and elegant, good job! With my 2012 RT Limited, I have what most would consider "hot foot syndrome" where my right foot is indeed warm to hot and many would say uncomfortably so. However, it occurred to me the other day that the reason this "problem" has never really been an issue is my second bike ... a 1985 BMW R80RT. This is the old style boxer where the feet sit right underneath the opposed cylinders and it also had a full faring. During the summer, we used to take the faring lowers off to allow some air circulation around my feet -- forgot this on a 105 degree ride in the Central Valley of California and I nearly passed out from heat. Actually, I did collapse at the side of the road .... it was a close one to be sure.

So, while I notice some warmth it is not ever as hot as my feet used to get on the BMW ... so it has never bothered me enough to try and correct. On one PGR ride this summer, it was over 100 degrees out and the spyder thermo told me the intake temp was 118 -- yes, my foot was hot, but good boots have always kept the burns away. BTW ... I put over 50K miles on that BMW in a little over two years, so have some miles under conditions where my feet were often "cooked" by the heat of the engine. nojoke

Best Regards .... Ann

Update to design

If you look at the pics above (in one of the first posts) you should be able to see where I glued leather on the outside of the 1/2 chap, over the heat wrap. Well, the glue had a tendency to adhere to the tubberware. It cleaned off easily, but I didn't like it doing that. So, I pulled the leather pieces off the outside and got a single large piece of black felt. I glued the black felt, using contact cement, to the outside of the 1/2 chap. Problem solved. I went for a long ride a couple of days ago, put my right foot on the right splash guard, even in stop and go traffic my foot was comfortable. The black 1/2 chaps along with my black leather jacket looks really bad ass too!

update: I took it over to a local tailor and had the felt sewed on.

Did anybody try these??? Do u think they will work???
My wife tried them. Sewed an inner layer of the pot holder fabric a layer of pipe wrap, and a layer of felt. The purpose of the felt was to protect the chaps from the tougher pipe wrap. It worked fine. She HATED the fashion though. She said it looked " totally dweebish." She sounded like a teenager. I laughed really hard. It was cute seeing my 60 year old bride of 32 years talking like she's a teenager! It worked, but she went with the leather anyway.
