The only time when I do not ride is when the salt/brine goes down on the roads, after the first rain to wash it off I am back out no matter how cold it is.

I understand if you don't want to bundle up even a little well, there you are. I hope your Fall is long with lots of warm days and fair breezes. It's not that I get too cold to ride, but when I have to keep the face shield of my helmet down, and I have to wear all the gear (including something over or under my jeans, which is normally all I wear on my lower body), the ride itself is just not as much fun. I know it is risky, but I live for the days when I can ride with a half helmet, no jacket, jeans, tennis shoes, and maybe fingerless gloves. When I am all bundled up, I start to think that maybe I should have just taken one of my cars instead. But maybe that's just me?
Is this the one in Roxboro? I saw that there was one and thought I would participate this year. Here in NC, the next 2 months have a lot of charity toy runs. A lot of them are held rain or shine. One that I like to go on takes the toys and money to a children's home. One year that had very nice temps (in the 70's on the first Sunday in Dec.) had over 2000 bikes signed up when checked and still more in line. The good thing is that the ride is police escorted.
No, it starts at the mall in Asheboro and goes to the Children’s Home in Thomasville. This year it is on 12-1-25. Full details can be found in the Carolinas’ Full Throttle magazine or their website under Cruising Calendar. Is this the one in Roxboro? It's cold here also in western PA. I did get a ride in yesterday and I sure hope it wasn't my last one for the year! Hope you are able to get a few more rides in! So does your RT not have heated grips? If not, an inexpensive solution is to add some heated grip wraps (my F3L has only one heat setting, not warm enough for me, the heated grip wraps work great! I had those heated gloves, but they really cut down on the dexterity in the hands. Another great addition for me is a battery operated under layer shirt, but I totally understand your excitement at that first ride of the season!) Wishing you many more seasons of childlike thrill!I usually don't put the Sta-bil into the Spyder until at least mid November, but it has turned cold already here in North Central Illinois. It was 29 degrees when I got up this morning, and looks like it won't even hit 50° today. Having just treated myself to a new cold weather motorcycle jacket, I hope my riding is not yet done for the year. I used to ride as long as it was above freezing and the roads were clear, but as I get older, my willingness to tolerate the cold or the bundling up to avoid the cold seems to drop. I'll probably still go out for rides, as long as it gets up to at least the mid to high 40's. I've got a good jacket, decent boots, and most importantly, good warm gloves (I have electric gloves that run on rechargeable batteries) which can still make for enjoyable riding as it gets cold, but only to a certain degree. The one good thing about putting the Spyder away for the winter months is that come Spring, taking those first few rides after months of not riding are really, really special. If I lived where riding was truly year round, I would never again have that child like excitement of getting ready for the first Spring rides. And at 82, there's not many things that make me feel a childlike thrill.
