Lately, I have been experiencing severe hip pain but only while riding my RT. Any ideas on cause or remedies? Any good exercises to relax or stretch hip muscles.

Do you have a backrest and floorboards? For me, the addition of a backrest removed a lot of tension in my back and hips. Similarly, with floorboards providing the room to stretch out, pain was reduced.

It's common. I try to stand up for a second or two and then relax when I sit down. It's hard to relax knowing it might start "cramping up" (for lack of a better term) again. Eventually it goes away.

If you are serious about exercising. For improved flexibility, research rubber band exercising for the lower body. It's a very inexpensive and relatively easy way to maintain above average range of motion and mobility. The bands are cheap and can be purchased on amazon. Just do a little research. Good luck.

Note.
If you do resesrch, there is one thing to keep in mind. Most of the folks you will see demoing band fitness will be young and over exuberant. Don't let that put you off. You're looking to improve your level of fitness, not attaining theirs.

This bothered me also for a while ... I eventually traced it back to the angle that my legs took, while getting my feet on the pegs.
ISCI's floorboards are height-adjustable (4 positions). I set them up lower than my footpegs were, and the pain went away.

Backwards..!!

I am having hip pains but when I'm off the roadster. Mostly standing walking or lying down. I actually take some rydes just to relax the pain. They are checking but have found nothing yet..you have great suggestion hope they work for you..!!

Between floorboards and highway pegs you can move your feet around in several positions to relieve or eliminate hip/leg pain. The trick is to not stay in the same seated position too long

I had some pain toward the end of the first day-long ryde I went on . . . I bought a kidney belt . . . I have also started to change the position of my legs, regularly, moving them to different positions on the floor boards. I plan to install highway pegs, too. I don't know which helped more, but I don't get the pain, anymore . . .

Give her a headstart, and then go pick her up!
Now; if you can convince your medical insurance carrier to pay for the therapy...:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Make sure your rear pockets are empty. Sit with nothing in them. Tom :trike:

me also

i get a cramp in my hip if i move my leg wrong. this used to also happen when i was on 2 wheels also. if i lift my leg to hit the foot brake because my ankle does not flex enough to just pivot my foot i get a cramp. i say it's just old age

Wallet?

Lately, I have been experiencing severe hip pain but only while riding my RT. Any ideas on cause or remedies? Any good exercises to relax or stretch hip muscles.

Sitting on a wallet that may be too thick can cause this. Try putting your wallet in a jacket pocket.

I also experience severe hip joint issues. Cannot walk without assistance of a walking stick, or need walker or wheelchair depending on the distance involved.

I have a 26" inseam here, Corbin seat--which sits a little lower, Seal floorboards which give me room to move my foot position around to find that sweet spot, extended and raised brake pedal, a sheepskin gel cushion, as well as a Airhawk cushion.

Usually start out without any seat pads. Some days all works well that way. If leg needs to be extended, then I add one or two of the above pads. It also helps me to get off the bike for a stretch break every 50 miles or so. Once again, it depends on the pain of the day. Last summer I experienced more "bad" riding days than good. A bad day gets me a hundred to a hundred fifty miles. A good day can be three hundred miles or more.

Hope that you can get your issues solved. Rydeing my :spyder2: is one of the things I still look forward to, and don't want to quit.

Empty pockets

Make sure your rear pockets are empty. Sit with nothing in them. Tom :trike:

If his significant other see's your post she may empty his billfold. My suggestion covers several different areas.

A. Switch the billfold to front pocket
B. Pay close attention as to where and how they they are positioned. ( feet and legs)
C. Try different footwear. Sneakers, boots, pull on vs lace up
D. Take a brief break get off due some deep knee bends, walk, run in place, sit on the curb, squat etc

It would be nice to know your sizes, body build etc as it could be ergonomical related

My 72 year old body reacts to breaks, foot wear and positioning of my feet more then I like now what a difference 20 years makes!

Hydration

Make sure you're drinking enough water, sometimes that happens to me in the summer on hot days (different muscles). Insufficient drinking (water) can contribute to muscle cramps.
