• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey! Please allow me to introduce myself...

Hi, Everyone!
My name is Mickey Fisher and I'm one of the two new Can-Am Spyder Ambassadors. I wanted to take a few minutes to drop in and introduce myself to the Spyder faithful here. I spent most of the weekend reading Lamont and Fred's blogs, watching pretty much all of their amazing videos, and learning everything I can from the threads on this board. It's pretty clear that one of the most amazing things about this is going to be meeting a lot of you guys and being able to ride with you. It seems like a community of passionate people.

I thought there were a lot of great entries, some of them from very experienced riders and owners on this board. And, believe me, I'm just as shocked as some of you were that I was picked. Everybody had their strengths and their individual perspectives, and I think that mine were my filmmaking skills and my job/schedule, which already entails traveling the country over the next six months. I know there was some speculation on the other thread that maybe it was all predetermined, all I can do is tell you that it wasn't.

I saw the ad on Monday before the Friday deadline, when it popped up on my Facebook page. You know how certain keywords in your posts trigger ads on Facebook? I think maybe the Can-Am Spyder Ambassador ad was triggered by me posting a picture of a full face helmet that I had somebody paint for me in the likeness of Boba Fett from STAR WARS. (Full disclosure, I am kind of a movie nerd. I've seen some members here named Storm Trooper and Firefly, so I know some of you share that compulsion as well) I downloaded the application and started work on my essay immediately. The next day, I spent hours and hours working on my video and got it uploaded by Wednesday. Then, I basically thought of nothing else until I got the call that I had won.

Part of the reason I was so excited to enter is that I've been coveting the Spyder for awhile now. I can't tell you how many times I've been to the BRP site, and gone through the process of building my dream ride, only to "x" out at the end because I haven't been in the situation yet where I could afford one. In many respects, this opportunity is a dream come true.

So, I'm in Southern Ohio now, chomping at the bit and trying to stay calm while directing a kids show for the next three weeks. Then, I head out to LA for the orientation and event, and it's my great hope that I can jump on the back of my Spyder, flip a coin in the parking lot there, and begin my adventure, wherever it leads me. I don't have any specifics from BRP just yet, but when I do I'll keep you guys informed. I had briefly considered trying to enter the Guts and Glory Rally, but I think it might be smart of me to get totally comfortable on it before attempting something of that magnitude...I may still try to get a leg in at some point.

I will definitely be in Maggie Valley and I'm taking Lamont up on an invitation to his BBQ, so I look forward to meeting a lot of you there. I know I have a lot to learn from you guys, and I'd like to thank Deb Tangen and Lamont, and those of you who have already reached out and offered an invite, or congratulations. I hope that over the next six months I can make you guys proud!

Please feel free to message me if you'd like, or track me down on Facebook, or you can always send me an email, too:

Thanks!
Mickey

A heartfelt :welcome: :congrats: on being picked as a new Spyder Representative!!! Wishing you all the best as you journey forward!!

You are going to love it!!!!:yes:

:congrats::agree::welcome:

Now for a moment of reality. The only real issue you will have is the day they come back to pick it up. :(

By then maybe the Spyder Gods will have your very own in the driveway :2thumbs::doorag:

:welcome::congrats: you have a big job ahead of you but all you really have to do to be successful is to exude enthusiasm over the spyder and Have Fun. Of course if you can get Lamont to teach you to field strip a Spyder blindfolded that will help also. We look forward to seeing you at Maggie Valley, but if you could slip down to Spyderfest even for a day or so next week it would sure be worth you while.

Hey, how come we don't have a" :congrats: to the new ambassador" emoticom? Well, welcome, best wishes and thanks for stopping by to introduce yourself. We'll look forward to updates, impressions and tales from the road. :welcome:

:congrats: As you may know, SpyderFest is THE BIGGEST US Spyder Event of the year, you may consider it. G&G: maybe next year. ;)
