Well, I traded in my 2003 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic for a almost new (bought it with only 436 actual miles on the odometer) 2013 Sypder RT.
I found this forum and have been avidly reading up on all the posts here and thought I had better introduce myself.
Due to the now very cold weather in Colorado I have managed to just squeeze in about 120 miles so far on the bike. The Wife and I really like our (mine :2thumbsnew Sypder and are really looking forward putting some miles on it.
I do all of my own wrenching. On my HD I had to take the primary drive apart twice: once to replace a broken drive belt and a second time when the stator and voltage regulator failed about three months later. I know if I had to pay the dealer I would have paid well over $1000 labor out of pocket for these two "events". ughhhhh.
I have been reading as many posts as possible but, when I read the posts about heat...I have a very different perspective...my old air cooled HD could probably put even the hottest Spyder to shame. It really baked my legs a few times over the last couple of years. That is one of the biggest forcing functions for the switch to a Can AM...liquid cooling. Additionally, I am really impressed with the anti-lock brakes and other vehicle safety systems.
Based upon all of the posts it looks like I will have some potential heat issues to deal with so I plan on taking the Tupperware off and wrapping both header pipes with heat tape in the next couple of weeks.
I want to thank everyone for all of the posts and info. This a great a forum with a lot of knowledgeable people and I look forward to visiting often.
Cheers to all!!!!!
