• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heat

My brother has a 2012 RT and it almost burned my damn leg off when i was out in temps above 100. I was wearing shorts because it was so hot so that did not help. We put the lower blocker plate on and it made a good difference, its still hot when the outside temp is hot but its bearable and only near the lower right leg.

Wearing shorts and complaining about the heat from a Spyder????????????????

Wear some jeans and boots while riding and enjoy the ride.

I rode my 2012 RTL 44000 miles including two Florida Summers without any difficulties whatsoever. There are some minor adjustments you can make to combat the so called right side heat but I never did them on my ryde and still never had any problem. I never rode less than 2000 miles per month including july and august

Did you really say there is no heat issues with the 2012?
Most of my mods have been done to get rid of the heat issue. Fuel boiling in the tank is a heat issue. Burning my right leg is a heat issue. Driving on the expressway and feeling like somebody is holding a hair dryer in your face is a heat issue.
Sorry for my rant, please don't take it personally.
The top mod that helped the most was removing the Air filter box and installing the JT air filter.
I have also blocked the right top hole and cut out the bottom plastic so the heat could escape under the bike.
I installed radiant barrier on all of the tuperware.
I installed radiant barrier no my fuel tank.
The next mod will be to remove the cat and ceramic coat the pipes

Don't forget: you're riding in a very hot and humid climate anyway...

I have a 2012 RT and have ridden it in 90+ degree heat with no heat problems with the bike.

Shorts? Long pants on any vehicle where the rider is exposed. (Exposed has a different meaning in Sturgis.) I hope you were not wearing Flip=Flops also.

:opps:

LOL no flip flops but to be honest i dont always atgatt on the spyder, kinda part of why i got it so easy to jump on and run to the store real quick without having to get all dressed up etc. I always atgatt on my bike though. And again the reason i was wearing shorts was because it was so damn hot out. It was my brothers and i did not expect to have a mega heat blast hitting me in the calf or i would have just not taken it out. I wound up taking an extra shirt i luckily had and wrapping it around my calf or i would not have made it home.

I agree, i dont know why some 2012 RT would have this issue and some not, i think they all do just a lot of people dont get weather hot enough to notice :)
Its not bad until you get into the high 90s or higher. We also put the blocking plate in the top right hole and that helped a lot. Did not cut a hole underneath because there is still a big open area for the air to escape and he has not had any problems.

See above lol. I can wear shorts (although i havent) on my GS without worrying about getting my leg burned off.

I've ridden my 2012 RT in 100°+ weather here in Arizona and had no problems with the Spyder. Just my experience. I'm still planning to do the cat delete and exhaust wrap though just to lower temps under the Tupperware. My thought is that lower inside temps equals longer life for all the parts under the Tupperware.
