• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

Ask Cuznjohn ? He did all the mods above and it did not help him at all. I did not say it would not help a little but the heat is still in there heating the same misplaced components on the 2013. I will say it again good luck I hope it works for the OP but why should anyone have to so radically change an OEM motorcycle to make it ride able? Answer is they should not have to and an ambient ride in the 70+ deg temp range means nothing mine was at 3 bars in the 70's on the highway. It certainly does not mean complete success . Stop and go up to 5 bars pretty quick. If you never stop these bikes are great riders not so much in traffic.:dontknow: Now ambient in the mid 90's mine is puking gas again after every ride that is in any traffic.

In this instance, the thread owner has verified his results using a heat gun, so we know it was a success and it is totally logical that it should be a success.

I agree 100% that we should not have to implement these fixes, but it is the only option which is why I'm 100% behind these fixes. We each own our bikes and BRP will do nothing to resolve the issues at this point. You're waiting for something that will never come.

I will say this;

Doing this this was way less than trying and taking a $8000.00 loss in trade value.

Again in should not have to do any of this but I am the type that says "I can fix that.":2thumbs:

That was my thinking as well. I believe I have something like $6K in modifications (that weren't all to reduce heat), but I always do this with any bike I have ever owned. I buy them, then get them to the point where they are performing as well as they can - or how they should have from the factory. I've done this with many Honda motorcycles as well, so it isn't just a BRP problem.

You guys just are not getting it. Riding in 70deg ambient I would bet no one has a heat issue or boiling gas or gas dripping from the evap. Doing it in 90+ ambient is a totally different story. I had 3 bars showing in the 70 deg ambient. I am happy you guys think you have solved a problem that simply does not exist at the temp stated. As stated many others have done mods and very few if any claim "complete" success. I am done trying to talk common sense about this.:bdh:

i did something to the bike that has fixed my heat issue forever, i got rid of it

yup up fixed it for you but you moved right into a 2014?

If you did that is not the choice I would have NEVER made if this problem is still there then I will dump this bike and NEVER EVER buy or recommend a BRP product again............. So with that here is to my fixes working as well as I think.......

having bad feet and leg problems due to diabetes and not feeling comfortable on 2 wheels because of it i decided to try the 14 due to great things i have read on the forum. please don't get me wrong, i have BRP on the tip of my nose as they say and there is no love between us, but not wanting to give up riding yet and loving the concept and the styling of the spyder i will give the bike one more try. i am not a lover of heat and i worried big time of my feet being burnt i had to do something to try to keep riding.

What are you talking about? 70 degree temps? Maybe in the spring and fall, but that is it. Last year during the summer months, I rode in 90+ heat more than a dozen times last year alone. A couple of those days were in triple digits. We get the same heat in the northeast that they get in the southwest, just not the same duration. The conditions are no different on those particular days. What am I missing?

even if the 14 is a pleasure to ride in the heat, on really hot days i stay in and forget about the bike and enjoy the AC

Congratulations on making the move. You live in NY like myself, so again, the climate is not the root cause the heat problems. Some have it, some don't. So have you taken delivery of your 2014 yet? Have you started another thread about this? If so, can you send me the link?

Excellent. You definitely made out good to sell the old one on you own. I hope you got a good price for it. Let us know when you get the 2014.

i sent you a pvt but i don't care talking in here, i got 18k for the bike but still took a beating with all the stuff i put into it

Congrats John on the new 14 coming your way! With all the good feedback on the 14's it should be a great choice for you to dump the problematic 13 and just move on. Sham it had to come to this but you was WAY MORE forgiving than me spending all the money you did to try to fix it. Hopefully you took a bunch of your goodys off to put on the 14.

no i didn't the guy that bought the bike saw it and wanted it as, so to sell it i just gave him everything.

john, congrats on the new '14/ I HOPE for your sake it is the answer. I also HOPE you at least test drove one in some hot weather to make sure that the spyder just isn't too hot for your personal issues no matter which model.

Just an update:

We we had ambient temps close to 90+ and I took 140 mile round trip which included highway and city driving pulling my trailer that was fully loaded and my wife and I on the Spyder.

The temps recorded in the area of the gas tank and body panel areas as well as the engine temp was 40% lower than prior to my modifications.

I can now say the machine is working great and I am really pleased with the success and verification of the data I have been taking. In fact I stopped for fuel and the tank fuel cap inlet area was cool to touch.

The only other thing I did was add a baker wing on the lower cove of my right foot to deflect the radiator hot air out and around it worked very well as I wore sandals on my feet so the heat was minimal.

My fuel mileage is averaging 30 MPG and I do not a baby the machine.
