My Boss Hoss was a 1999 single speed with no reverse. I put a two speed in it (because they said it couldn't be done) and it had reverse but I never bothered to hook it up. I drove it for four years like that. Reverse is nice but if I could manage a 1200lb two wheeler without it I'm sure I'll do fine with a 700lb three wheeler. :doorag:All SBC weigh the same within a few pounds unless you add aluminum heads and intake. The best way to go is the LS series engines, the all aluminum V8's in the newer Vettes and Camaros. More power and lighter weight means more fun. I would like to try using a Busa or ZX14 engine in there but would lose reverse.
