• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have 4 quarts Rotella t6 5w40 an 2 quarts amsoil 10w40 metric. I have read a zillion oil threads on the web. Has anyone mixed these oils? I hate to dispose of good oil.

I wouldn't, because of the potential for incompatible addidives. I would buy enough for a complete oil change and use them up. I realize that their is always dilution with the residual oil when you change brands but bottom line its your decision. 🤑

I’ve mixed various weights and brands of oil when I’ve had a quart left over, no problem ( your results may vary 😁)

The old saying, 'If it can be done, it has been done, or will be done shortly', is probably true. It used to be (long ago) that mixing oils could be a bad idea. But these days, as long as the API ratings and general application purpose are the same, it's not a big deal. If you mix a high quality oil with a lower quality oil, there's 2 ways to look at it. The low quality oil will be upgraded, or the high quality oil will lose some of its abilities. But you're not going to get some science lab chemical reaction from it.

If the viscosities are different, that will factor in to the mix.

I understand why it is generally not recommended. Because you give someone licence to take an inch leeway, and they will end up taking mile. But if you want to do it, I don't see any huge downside.

I can help you out. Send me the oil, and I'll take it off your hands.

Let me see. I send you the oil and you WILL mix it. 🤣
I've got an old JD tractor that I've been married to longer than I've been married to my wife, and it'll run on any kind of oil I put in the tractor. I never change the oil; I just add to it and change the filter once every two years, if I remember.
