There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Has anyone heard of a 2010 RT blowing up. The last time I rode it was Friday and today Wednesday the garage burned to the ground. Fire Marshall said it was the spyder that did it.

Ouch! Never heard of spontaneous combustion concerning :spyder2:'s. Did you have it plugged in on a battery tender or charger? There has to be a root cause if it was indeed the :ani29: that was the culprit.

No charger just setting there.

The only thing I could see is an electrical failure. A positive wire must have grounded started burning and set the plastic or other insulation on fire. I have seen this happen before.

I would wait and refer to the report issued by the

Marshall. Depending on the loss value, your Insurance Co. may also dispatch their own investigator for a determination.

1. Was the Spyder recently serviced? If so, what work was done?
2. Was the garage and contents a total loss?

Curious..!!

what else is in the garage. Do you have critters that could go to chewing on things..?? I think it is a hasty decision on the marshalls part. They are good at their jobs but something caused the fire....:dontknow:

No work done garage bike two cars all tools lawn tractor golf cart on and on total lost.

If the fire Marshall is right, and I say IF, then why is still an issue. If the spyder started it, was that because the fuel level was checked by looking into the gas tank with a cigarette lighter? A butane torch next to the real wheel? An electrical short in the attached charging cable?

Was as it the Spyder's fault, or was the Spyder just the center of the ignition?

Sounds like the fire guy was that wacky weed. Why can he confirm/state the cause when most investigastion take several days. Even if it seems the center of the fire was the Spyder, could fumes/leak from a car set the fire off
Anyway. Sorry for your loss and hope everything comes out okay. Also hope nobody was hurt.

I am out of town and haven' t seen it just a picture of a black spot . I was told there is nothing left of the bike it is completely gone and that is why.
There should be at least a frame left. If there is nothing maybe someone stole it and set the garage on fire for cover.

I must say, that I read this topic last night and was kind of stunned at the brand loyalty and insinuations towards the fire marshall.

Even if the Spyder sat for a week, why is it so difficult to believe it could catch fire and burn? A car, a boat, a computer or even a cell phone can ignite with poor situations. May not be common but it is possible.

If the OP is messing with people that is one thing, but myself, I would be a bit irritated to learn about my loss of garage, vehicles and items and then have this place preach to me it could not be the Spyder, when their burn to the ground history is documented. Granted the situation of heat is different.

You guys are pretty tough, I expected next you would just come out and accuse the op of setting fire to his place.

I have not been on SL too long. Posts like this on any forum prove how cruel or even wrong the keyboard is.

I hope this is not a joke post, and would suggest some go ack and re read their replies, then consider walking in the OP's shoes for the trip to see a burned garage.

Sheesshh, tough crowd.

Brand Loyalty?
What did you expect in here? :D
Seriously; a cold bike, sitting idle in a garage for a period of time...
It seems like a "less than likely", source of the fire...
Unless mice chewed on a wire; causing a short.

But that could have happened with any of the vehicles in that garage... :dontknow:

I don't disagree Bob, just the entire discussion has a poor focus and should consider that none of us are there, and stranger things have happened to burn stuff to the ground.

Obviously we all hope it was not Spyder related, however without anything more than words from a Fire Marshall, I certainly would not slam his judgement.

Sorry about sounding off, but the entire tone and accusations of these replies just seems wrong.

I hope the best for the OP getting this resolved. Sounds like it will be complicated, but luckily no one was injured.
