Am I the only Looney that names their ride?
I have been called all sorts of names because I name my vehicles. Always a feminine name (So sue me, I am 70, I just don't care anymore).
In 2015 I ended up in Idaho in September and the morning I was to come home it was 28°. My 2011 Ultra Glide got me safely to Green River, Wy. When I went to put my feet down, my arthritic Kees were numb, and I couldn't hold the bike up. One of the guys riding with me was quick and saved me from falling. After Warming up some, I got home safe and the next morning I traded the Ultra for a TriGlide. When I got it home, I commenced to installing the goodies and when I got to the rear of the trike (guess I never looked at the back) I actually said out loud, "Dang Girl, you got a big butt!". From that moment on, she was named "Fat Bottom Girl".
After two Knee replacements (and a bankruptcy of my business) I got a 2014 Ultra Glide, she was black and made me feel naughty. Named her Harley Quinn. Guess I don't have a photo of the Harley Quinn Decal.
I tore up both shoulders working on swimming pool covers, so after having both repaired, I retired from work and riding.
Even though I missed being in the wind, pretty much gave up riding until a friend told me to try his Spyder. The thing was way different, but the steering was easy and effortless compared to a TriGlide. I was missing riding and hooked on the feeling the Spyder left me.
Ended up with a white 2019 Spyder F3. As I have always liked white vehicles, I had pretty much exhausted the "white names". When I retired from the Navy and took a job in Northbrook, Il. then moved to Grand Junction, Co. when my dad passed to try to save a failing business, "Cool Change" by Little River Band had become my favorite song and really expresses my lament at missing the sea. The song came up on Apple Radio right after I decided on the Spyder. It seemed like fate, so I named the Spyder "Cool Change". She was quite the change from Harleys and Gold Wings. If. I am being honest, I kind of miss the Harleys and Goldwings. But my Spyder certainly is a "Cool Change". And she is all I can handle.
Okay, so the point of this thread is to share if you name your ride, what the name is, and how it came to be.
Psssst ... it also may help convince me that I'm not crazy. :yikes:
