• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anybody else tried this riser yet?

Stumbled across this 3" riser on eBay a few weeks ago, but then it was gone. I located the maker, and ordered it. I thought it was well worth the risk at only $120. They offer both bare aluminum and black anodized.

I just received and installed it today. It was straightforward and easy, just two bolts holding the plastic lower handlebar cover were hard to get to - a low profile 10mm socket from Sears fixed that. Every thing else was a piece of cake.

I've only ridden with it installed for a half hour or so, so far, but absolutely love the difference in seating position, arms are now bent a bit, and it sure feels like less steering effort is required. Overall, a much nicer riding experience. I give it an A+ so far. Now I need the mirror extensions, hands are right in the middle of the mirrors...

I almost bought that one, but thought it might be hard to install like the BRP riser. Looks like a neat riser and keeps the stock look. Post some pics!

I went with the NMN 3" risers and installed last night.

I'm looking at this one also. Like the idea of keeping the "stock" look and not having to cut the bars. Talked with them on Friday and was told I could add this to the 1" BRP riser already installed. Keep us informed on how you like or dislike it please.
 
Very easy install, much simpler than the BRP 1". It's just a block of billet aluminum machined to fit on the stock lower bar clamp, and it's top surface mimics the lower bar clamp, just 3" higher up. The bars fit into the top and are held in place using the stock upper bar clamp. The whole thing is held in place using 3 longer through bolts, supplied with the riser, that go through the upper bar clamp, through the riser and thread into the lower bar clamp, clamping the bars in place 3" above the stock position.

It took me about an hour to install, just had to remove all the hardware below and above the bars - about 10 bolts altogether. You have to loosen the right hand bar plug and the throttle assembly (2 allens) and slide it 1/2" to the right to get the 2 covers off, but it's all simple.

All the cover bolts were reachable with a 1/4" ratchet with an 8mm and 10mm socket, except for the two bottom ones that hold the black plastic underside cover to the bar clamp assembly. There i had to use a 'low profile' 10mm socket and a ratcheting wrench - I luckily found the low profile socket set on clearance for $9 at Sears that afternoon. It's a short socket with a hex on the back that fits into a standard box or ratcheting box wrench, and is just the right thickness to fit the space for those two bolts.

Remove the top and bottom covers from the bars, remove the 3 allen bolts that hold the bars in place (use a sharpie to mark on the bars the stock bar angle, where it intersects the clamp, you have to repeat this angle with the new riser), and then re-install with the 3" riser and longer bolts provided.

Now with the 3" riser in place, the top and bottom cover and all the cover bolts are simple to reinstall.

I had to pull up a bit on all the wires to get some slack, but didn't have to remove any of the lower plastics (as suggested in the instructions) to gain any extra slack. When I was done, I zip-tied the free wires to the holes in the steering stem bar clamp, tested for strain on wires from lock to lock, and Voila! Done.

I wish I'd taken before and after pics, but didn't think of it till today... I'm sure you all can look at yours and see what is different.

I went on a 4 hour ride today, and it was GREAT. No more arm and shoulder fatigue and it still feels like steering effort is reduced. I definitely like the more upright seating position, and my arms are bent now, instead of just about straight out locked.

Only drawback? My hands are right in the middle of the mirrors now, so like with most bar risers, I'm going to have to get the mirror extensions. C'est le vie.

STILL an A+ to me.

Nice option to have - good chance I would have gone that way if they had been available sooner - but I love my NMN risers!
 
THe NMN system is certainly more versatile, 4" and you can adjust position to some degree. But, the price of this unit, no bar cutting and really simple installation made my decision easy... I figured if it wasn't good enough, I'd only invested a hundred bucks or so.

Now I am pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out. And if I really want 4", I can add the BRP riser. The two will work together just fine, except I'll have to pull some plastics to get to the harnesses to make a little more slack.

I installed mine about a month ago, easy install and allows me to sit straighter and take pressure off my shoulders. I'm 5' 9" and the 3" extension works great.

I installed the NMN risers and noticed a big difference in the amount of leverage I gained in steering. Do you notice this increased leverage in that riser? Thanks. :spyder2:
 
Question, do you lose the steering lock with this part? It looks like the pin that would normally engage the frame holes is now 3" above them? Come to think of it, does the BRP 1" riser do the same thing?

Hadn't thought about that, but now that I check, steering lock is gone, as Warrior confirmed.

And yes, I feel more steering authority. Don't know whether it's actually leverage or just that my arms are at a more natural position now.

I have the BRP 1" riser and the steering lock works fine...I use it whenever I park...
