There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Handle bar riser kits question (KewlMetal vs. NMN)

I really respect both companies coming out with a much needed solution to the handlebar risers.
I installed the BRP riser block, but it still not enough.

I do have some questions about both the KewlMetal 5" & 7" bars as well as NMN's 3&4" risers. I did talk to them on the phone, but I would like to hear Lamont's and every one elses opinion.

I am 5'6" with a 30" inseem. So I noticed I tend to sit far more forward on the seat than most. I would like to sit straight up and back. I also do NOT have the Premium Edition with the Spyder PE plates, so loosing the center stock plate is not a concern.

SO, what would be my better option: KewlMetal's 5" or 7" bars Or NoMagicNeon's 3" or 4" risers?? The numbers can't be compared as the measurements are from different points.

Will the cables reach fine for the the highest rise from either solution?

Here's your problem... no one that I know of has installed BOTH sets. On the Magic Man risers, Lamont has stated that there is plenty of cable and hose.

I've installed the Kewl Metal 5" bars on top of the 1" BRP riser... I'm getting ready to remove the 1" riser and install the 7" bars... for a net gain of 1". There's enough cable/hose for that, too.

But, I'm not sure whether the 7" bars can be installed in addition to the BRP riser, though, and don't intend to find out.

You did see this, right?

I did see that post and will note it.
The way I see it is this: without any bias to any company... If you really want your PE plates, then the NMN is the choice. IF you don;t care or have no PE plates it may not make a difference.

If I want to install handle bar add-ons like RAm mounts, GPS etc, then the KewlMetal option gives ample mount points for those.

If your on the fence as which to choose... then your just like me!

I already installed a set of risers. I bought a replacement set of bars just in case it didn't work. I liked what I saw Lamonster do, so I threw together my prototype for the "experiment". If you can't get it for free, you sometimes need to just make it.:2thumbs:

I found the riser block actually widens the bars. If you use a 3/4" riser block, your bars will be wider by about 1" to 1 1/2", depending if you have a hand brake.

I choose the riser block because I wanted to use the stock centerpiece. After 2 weeks of riding, I may look at taking an inch off the centerpiece to bring the bars in closer.

I think the riser blocks look better, but the Kewlmetal setup may be more versatile. You may get more movement (adjustment) of the grips and levers.

I'm going to buy the 5" riser from KM to see what the feel is. It's a $70 investment...if I like it, I may buy the ccenterpiece and do my own side by side comparison.

Sometimes you just got to pay.
