• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GPS Question

Another question. Does anyone that uses the BRP CB/Comm and BRP GPS/Nav system WITH the J&M headset, NOT have GPS directions go to the headset? Is the BRP headset the problem, maybe an early model headset? Maybe an early model of the GPS harness? I am just throwing questions out there while waiting for my appointment athe the dealer. The dealer told me they are going to call BRP for guidness and was hoping to help them along with some troubleshooting. Thanks

Steve, My setup is exactly as you described. BRP CB/Comm and BRP GPS with J&M headsets. My wife can hear the GPS, I cannot, yet we both listen to the CB, radio, and chat via intercom. I've heard others say the same thing. I paid the price for this stuff to insure it all worked, and it doesn't. It's a shame that BRP will not own up to this problem and fix it.

Oh, but they are. Thats what this thread is about. I sent an email to BRP complaining about the issue and I recieved a phone call from Carlo, the BRP Spyder Customer Rep. He has assured me that it is a BRP problem and they are working on it with my dealer. I was very disappointed that it didn't work properly when I picked it up, but dealer and BRP are working very hard on fixing it. So this is why I am keeping those who have the problem informed on what is going on. BRP states once they figure out what the problem is they will send out a bulletin. My dealer (Malcolm Smith Motorsports) and BRP are committed on resolving this issue.

I hope you are right. I also talked to Carlo (many months ago), and at the time they weren't looking into this. Guess enough folks have raised the issue. Please don't misunderstand, I am very supportive of BRP. They have done a great job standing behind the Spyder, fixing most of the problems. For me, this is the last one that needs to be fixed. Thanks for raising the issue once again.

Hey SpyderLovers! I was told by my dealer that everything on the Spyder that is supposed to speak to me, entertain me, tell me where to turn and in fact, tell me where to go, if my wife is ryding with me, will come through the headsets on both ST-1 helmets if I buy the CB/Intercom from BRP.

Tomorrow starts week two at the dealer. The BRP recommended diagnostics have been completed and still no sound. The dealer said they are waiting on BRP to send the wiring harnesses so they can start replacing them, one by one, in hope that will solve the problem.

Its been 75 to 80 degrees here for these last two weeks and the bike was in the shop :gaah:. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Whoa, I just read some of your updates.
I'm very sorry that you are having these problems but.................

YOU KNOW MALCOLM SMITH ?????????

Way cool.

At the start of week four, the dealer changed out the cluster and it did not solve the problem. I called Carlo and the dealer pleading that they stay in communication because I am not prepared to just leave my bike there forever. I have received calls from both about my call. The dealer has ordered another harness and it will be in sometime next week (week five). I will let you know what happens.

J&M Lower Cord for Spyder Sound System

Maybe it's already be said... You must use the J&M (HC-ZVT) lower cord for a J&M helmet to work with the BRP sound system. We have C/B..Intercom...Garmin GPS on both RT's and they all work great through our helmets or speakers... or both... Len

Your probably right, I just hate thinking I waisted my money on BPR headsets and then turn around and spend more money on J&M headsets. I guess I should just waive the white flag, surrender, and whip out the credit card.

Does anyone is Southern California have a helmet with a J&M headset that I can borrow/rent for an hour so my dealer can test to see if my BRP GPS works with it?

:helpsmilie::pray:

Do you need to have a headset hooked up to monitor the cb through the audio system external speakers. I seem to hear no audio through the CB. I beleave I have the external speakers and headset setting set to both.

Just an FYI. I still to this day have not heard our BRP GPS in our headsets. Ours was 100% BRP headset, kits, CB Etc... I gave up trying to fix it, and just used it when we needed to and looked down for the directions.

Good to see this is an actual issue that can be resolved. This means we will curb our hunt for an aftermarket headset. We originally planed to eliminate the BRP set because of this.

Bike was in the shop yesterday to have the highway pegs mounted when Malcolm came out to say hi and offer me some coffee. We had a short chat about the Spyder and he told me his sister-in-law has one with 29,000 miles on it. He is truly a good person. Thanks for the chat Malcolm.
