• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got my order in today for the Elio!

Here's the thing..!!

You will be lucky if anything is the same by the time it is put into production. They do a good job keep investors hopes up....:dontknow:

I stopped in to see it when I was in Daytona, look really nice but they still only have a plastic mock up for an engine and no mention of transaxel.I think the proto type has a 3 cylinder engine and transaxel out of I think a sprint.I hope that they do go into production but I don't see how it could possibly be sold for $6800.00

I'm interested in seeing how this plays out. I hope for the best for all those who have put up some money already. Please keep us updated.

The latest I read was that production was now moved to 2015. They were going to concentrate on filling all the current orders.

Mockups still with plastic engines? Seems they are running out of time on this one. :dontknow::dontknow:

I still remain one of their harshest critics and my opinion has not changed from my postings in many earlier threads. I just cannot jump on board, based on what I have seen and read. Been following this for about three years now.

EDIT: Have also mentioned that I hope I am wrong. I do not want people to lose their deposits or end up with a machine that is unreliable and unserviceable. Back when the Yugo first came out, the dealer in Duluth lasted a whole month.

You and I agree. However, I hope I am wrong. I was right about pets.com. I was wrong about amazon.com. I was right about the Yugo. I was wrong about Netscape.

This entire episode may go down in history as one of the biggest scams in history -- most certainly one of the longer ones.

Seriously... these guys have been caught in outright lies about property they secured; among other things. It is a wonder they are not in jail yet.

But what the heck... if they can make a vehicle that can do everything they say it can, at the price they claim they can sell it for; then they'll sell far more than they can make. Personally, I am not holding my breath.

I am not trying to be offensive with my comments; but there have been far too many delays, lies, and changes in plans with this project for anyone to take it serious; while they continue to take money from people gullible enough to send it to them

If I am wrong; I'll be the first to subject myself to fifty lashes in the public square. In the meantime, I hope most people are wiser with their money.

You still have public squares in Illinois?

We converted the ones in California into condominiums.

Yes, we still have town squares in the small towns; however given our state's and local fiscal condition (second worst only to CA); they are considering selling the naming rights! :roflblack: Or maybe turning them into gambling casinos... :roflblack:

:yikes: And here we go again. More delays and this time its because of a funding problem--Duuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhh :dontknow:

Maybe they should up the deposits from $100 or so--:shocked:

This truly is starting to look like a very long running scam. Talk about carrot and stick! I would like to see American jobs and American products put on the market. But this is more and more looking like way to good to be true. I for sure will not be investing even $1.00 into the company.

The saga continues......................................................:dontknow:

High Hopes

I'm sure it's not a scam. If it is, Pep Boys is getting a piece of the profits for letting them use their name as their Service Center. I'm still optimistic, and so are a bunch of my friends that also went all in for $1K. So at least I won't be the only fool :joke:. Till then, at least I have something to look forward to.

Keeping them crossed for you!

Most don't think of early depositors as fools. Elio has been using a very slick advertising campaign. There is one going on as we speak, on the Yahoo home page. Nothing new, just a commercial that they got someone to sponser as a public relations thing.

The history of the product, the claims, the never ending delays--these are the things that I speak about. If it comes off as advertised, I have said many times that I will be one of the first in line to admit that I have been wrong.

If it turns out to be a failure, the latest stats say that 18,000 people have put deposits up. Those are the people that I will feel bad for.

I do not understand. If this is such a great idea, creates gobs of profit, and fills a real need, then why have NONE of the majors pursued it? (Answer: 'cuz it ain't profitable.)

ELIO

I ORDERED MINE WITH THE $100 T-shirt ALSO! CAN't WAIT!!

So, I know this is not a Spyder related post but this vehicle will be parked in my garage next to my 2013 Can-Am Spyder RT-S, so that has to count for something. Elio Motors is now taking reservations for an 84 MPG 3-wheel "motorcycle" that will sure look familiar to all of us here. I just purchased my spot in line for ownership of one! Very cool. I will hopefully be able to make it to Phoenix on Thursday to sit in a prototype. Best thing is it's American made and based out of Phoenix, AZ at this time. 84 MPG on highway even with the AC on....come on, why couldn't Can-Am have done this. And it's even 200 pounds heavier than an RT-S. An 8 gallon tank and 672 mile capacity....Holy Cow. Can it really be true.

Thoughts? Anyone out here in SpyderLand put an order in for one? Will you replace your Spyder with it? I hear they will have sunroof options, and who knows, maybe even a convertible Elio someday, lol!
