• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got caught in heavy rain with my CHAD

My GPS is mounted much the same, but I used a RAM-B-337U female 1/4-20 ball instead of one of the CHAD adjuster nuts. I did have to shorten the male adjuster a tiny bit with the grinder.

Niiiice!

So, Scotty, that's 4 adjustment mounts times 2 sides = 8 places (in addition to the handlebars) to mount stuff!

Where's that 12v microwave oven dltang was talking about? :joke:

So I panic and tried to wipe the paint off. When I did that it just made a terrible mess. Now I have this sticky goo on the back of the shield and I'm freaking out.:helpsmilie::gaah:

I was a little worried about spray painting a $300 product and not getting a nice even line across the shield. Now after this story I know I'll pay the extra for the half black shield!

Total bummer about your paint job gone bad ! If I had a dollar for every time I've done something and then within a few minutes wished I hadn't----- well---- I'd have at least $20 :D

I was afraid to trim the corners on the CHAD - but will give it a shot this weekend. My CHAD jr. is working pretty well.

We're you able to buy just the CHAD shield or did you have to buy a whole new kit with the mounts?

Don't know yet. Magic Man is calling them today.
My painter thinks he can save it so I'll find out tomorrow.

Looks good firefly. Also, I hope that lamonster doesn't have any more issues like his "liquid windshield"... :D :D

Only one RAM ball (on the CHAD) for me. I'm easily confused. :D

Looks awesome, wish I could buy that combo. How's it ride?

It rides really good. The only real difference I notice between having the GIVI mounted this way instead of the CHAD is there is more wind on my arms and a bit more wind on my face when I ride with my helmet shield up. I would think this would be a similar feel to trimming the corners and sides of the CHAD down.

Can't say much about helmet noise right now as I've been riding with earplugs - when I tested the original CHAD and the CHAD jr. - so I don't hear much wind at all.

Overall I'm thrilled with the CHAD brackets, GIVI shield and CHAD shield. I think this bracket setup will allow for many other shields (and other things) to be mounted to it.

Every time I think I'm about ready to pick a windshield, someone comes up with a thread and changes my mind once again. <sigh> I'm so confused. I have yet to see the touring BRP windshield on a Spyder in real time. That may convince me either way. :chat:

Nice setup Scotty. I ordered the same mount for my CHAD today!
You will probably have to shorten one male CHAD knob a bit, and maybe add an extra stainless washer so the ball won't bottom out. Beyond that it is a piece of cake, and still simple to adjust the windshield if need be.
