• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got a ticket from state trouper

I really love the people on this website!

From Captain Fin: "My spyder and I were making love!"

Well if that's considered as 'securely fastened' in your case; I envy you! :2thumbs: :roflblack:
:clap: Its nice to know that such wonderful people own spyders. We can be serious or have our pants on too tight or just be plain crazy, but we all know how to have fun and help each other. Thats what is really most important. I am still waiting on those great legal minds for my defense. Officer Rambo from Ark. can stand down.

Chief Rambo, and smile when you say that partner. ( i am gonna watch for this guy when he comes through Arkansas, thinking he can just flaunt justice by not wearing eye protection, now what did i do with that bullet they gave me?)

Could you have dropped it into your box of Krispy Kremes??

Sorry... :opps: It slipped! :joke:

While I agree that wearing proper eye protection is a good thing to do, sometimes unique circumstances arise when you may not do it. I've done it a few times on my RT, and with the shield up high you can easily avoid the wind in your eyes. Not the smartest thing to do.... but can be done.

I keep a pair of dark and clear protective glasses in my RT glovebox... Curvz is the brand.... like $18 a pair.
---------------

Pertaining to the ticket..... yes.. I would fight it and explain your unique circumstances that day. I would also check and see if they can issue such a ticket as a primary offense. Many such tickets can only be secondary offenses.... in other words you would have to be pulled over for something else first.

It was ridiculous for him to turn around and come pull you over.. not sure I'd call him Rambo... I think Barney would be more fitting.... and a good cop would have issued a warning... but now they are more focused on one thing.... REVENUE ! They know if they don't pull in enough revenue..... the force will have to make cuts...

Okay. I've made my point earlier. I won't beat a dead horse.

If you want to "pragmatically" try and beat the ticket, then request a hearing. On the hearing date you will enter the courtroom with a s.....pot load full of other people. Eventually you will see law enforcement officers arriving. Look to see if you see the particular law enforcement officer that cited you. If he doesn't show up (and this happens many times), then you are going to win. No if's and's or but's about it. Sometimes the hearing officer will call out the names of the officers to see if they are in attendance. If the officer is not, then MOST of the time the hearing officer will call you up and dismiss the case.

However, let's say that he does show up. I personally would go up to him and point blank ask him if he really feels that given the circumstances, i.e., blocked up traffic going at a snail's pace, is worth the time and effort that both of you are going to be putting into this issue. Let him know that your driving record is impeccable (if it is) and explain to him the reason why you did what you did. (I know. I know. You probably did this already at the scene. However, the conditions for negotiation are much calmer in a courtroom setting) I've found that a little honey sure can get the job done given the situation.

If the above fails, then have it heard by a judge or hearing officer.

As I said in my earlier post. Good luck.

Chris

I was going to go on about confronting the officer in the court room, but, i will keep that bullet in my pocket. LOL. And remember, no matter how this turns out the officer was doing his job and trying to protect you and others around you. And if i write one more ticket my wife gets a new toaster.

And he probably wrote you the ticket because you spelled TROOPER wrong, and that is a class Y felony

:doorag:I have never to this day rolled-over, I've lost only once in 4 garbage citations. The lamest one was for picking my nose ...I mean for swerving to avoid a road kill.
NO matter what , on a three wheel it's REALY hard to miss those critters.it all depends on what mood they are inn and that doesn't cut it with me!
here are a few I got in TEXAS-georgetown;
- no helmet > > dismissed:yes:
- no proof of adequate medical insurance > dismissed
- defective lighting (LED's ) > dismissed
- snail-crawl in traffic and got stuck in middle of turn at traffic light> dismissed
- reckless driving (avoiding that huge road kill possum) > dismissed
- I am sure that I am forgetting one ....
Happy riding and to all spyder owners ...cheers and red wine with cheese!:ani29:

I feel bad that the OP got a citation, but this whole thread gave me a big smile to end the work week on. :2thumbs:

Now off to Scooter class tomorrow so I can get my M license and maybe buy my first motorcycle next week, a Spyder RT Limited of course... assuming I pass the course and the follow-on written exam.

Why a scooter course instead of a motorcycle course you ask? Well, I took a motorcycle course some 30+ years ago and haven't ridden one since. I always thought scooters looked like a lot of fun as well and in Texas, they both lead to the same M endorsement. Maybe a future toy addition after acquiring a Spyder.

Hey Joe!
I just peed in my neighbor's pool!
Can you write me up for it, and get you guys a new T.V.? :roflblack:
Uh-oh! he looks mad...
I gotta go!

I was ticketed in Ybor City for having my shield on a full face helmet open over an inch in the heat. It's not worth the fight. I was wrong, even though I tried to reason with the officer. Welcome to Florida, the land of no State Tax.
