There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Good News/Bad News

Well, I got my recall letter for the steering firmware upgrade. The bad news is that BRP CUT OFF MY DEALER AS OF TODAY BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO BE BLACKMAILED INTO TAKING ATV INVENTORY THAT THEY KNOW THEY CAN'T SELL!!!!!!!
Kissell's Motorsports in State College PA told me a month ago that they were being strong-armed by BRP to take 44 ATV's per year in order to keep Spyder sales. Problem is, that's about 4 years worth of inventory, especially when Can-Am Atv's cost $1500-$2k more than other popular brands. They won't even let them service units that were sold BY THEM, some in the last 2 months (I have 2 buddies that both bought, at least partly because of the glowing reports they heard from me about the vehicle.

I called today to set up service and they said BRP shut of their computer access as of TODAY!!!!!!!!!

I AM TICKED!!!!!:cus::cus: :banghead:

:cus: Bummer, indeed!!!

At least any direction you ride in that part of PA is one, nice, ride... hope you can find a "local" dealer that will take care of your machine as well as your friends....

don

When you find another dealer it is a very quick fix. I had mine done last Thursday in Virginia at All out cycles and it took only about 15 minutes. Also if anyone is in the Virginia Beach area and looking for a spyder give them a call. They seemed like a great dealer. :2thumbs::yes:

This is just wrong in so many ways. BRP is going to hurt their image and hurt the owners by doing this kind of thing.

From a legal standpoint I would think the dealer might have some ground to stand on. They should still be able to service and support something that they originally sold!

Try calling the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office and talking to the Consumer Protection folks. It seems to me that BRP is playing with fire by prohibiting a dealer from servicing a motor vehicle they sold, especially if there are no other service locations within a reasonable distance.

If enough folks call the gov'mint, something may actually happen.

It's at least worth a try.

The exact same thing happened to a dealer here in Wis.:gaah: :cus:

That's like a Rolex dealer...same sh*t!
Bombard BRP with e-mails stating that you made your purchase based not just the machine, but the ability to service your Spyder close to your home. You shouldn't have to drive more than an hour for service. At least they should be allowed to service the bikes they sold up to the warranty expires. That's just not good business. Shame our Spyders are not Hondas in that respect, then there would be no problems with finding service.

BOO to BRP , soon there will be another player in the 3 wheel market, and they purchasers will have a much bigger network set up. Until then they wear the Rolex. :chill: :gaah:

They can "service" the machine but have no access to factory parts, can't do warranty work, no BUDS system, IE all the specialized stuff that only the dealer can do. They ought to at least be allowed to do warranty and service on units they sold to original owners. This really scorches my shorts!!

Does anybody from BRP monitor this board? :chat:

Anybody see the youtube video "United Breaks Guitars"? Talk about what one seriously disgruntled consumer did to get a BIG company's attention? This guy is a folk hero!! Over 4 million hits on his music video kicking United Airlines A$$:2thumbs:

How do they know I'm not the NEXT guy with talent, determination, and a sense of twisted humor?? (All right, I'm not, but what if i was??:D )

Don't say fire...the bikes might have a problem with that too! :yikes:

I have 4 dealers in my 'area' yet I still drive 80 miles to my dealer as I like them more...

From what I'm reading here, I assume probably at least 2 of those dealers might not be around much longer!

Pretty sad on BRP's part. I'm no expert (though at some point I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express! :roflblack:), but I would think it's hard to sell products in sufficient numbers to recoup R&D and other costs if you eliminate dealers because they won't buy (and ultimately eat the costs!) of other products that the purchasing public won't buy in those volumes.

People at BRP might be watching this site, but those people are not getting the point through to the "experts" (a.k.a. marketing majors who think they're sooo great because their noses are so brown...OK...another post...:roflblack:) I'm sure they have some "great" idea of how marketing works, but, that strategy will ultimately fail and the executives who made the decisions will have long since left the company with their golden parachutes and they will see nothing wrong with what they have done because they actually believe they did what was right.

I own several of...

I suspect this will be moved to OTB, but it is spyder related and the truth is the truth!

Many of us own more than one of these things and all bought new. We can dump them in a heartbeat if BRP keeps screwing around with the service. Just like gm and chrysler... I'll never buy another one of them... and I've owned many but I am not going to pay twice, once at the dealer and once with tax dollars, and the same applies to BRP if they make it difficult to get service I'll dump them too. Will build my own... folks it ain't rocket science.

And in building our own we can use better quality USA made components instead of these overprice components made in italy.

I have 13 vehicles on the roads in different areas of the country and I have already replaced the gm and chrysler products with fords they didn't take bailout money.

If "We The People" don't stop the Bull:cus: it will never ever go away or stop. It is up to us.

Well said, I agree.

Not trying to take any sides here. But it is always interesting to me that so many know better how to run a company than the people who own it.

I am not saying there are not issues and that imput from everyone is bad. Just that it takes a lot of effort and know-how to run a company like BRP.

It isn't like BRP just fell off the turnip truck. They have information that we don't, they are trying to keep us happy and make a buck at the same time.

It just doesn't seem reasonable that BRP would nuke dealerships for no good reason (at least from their perspective).

I'll admit, BRP is not another Honda. I'm sure they would be if they could be.

From my contact with a number of people at different levels in the BRP organization I am convinced that they are working hard to do all they can.

My hope is that, for whatever reason, things get better on all fronts in the long term. I know that does not help for those of us losing dealerships or having to travel long distance for support.

I have to travel about 90 miles one way to Alcoa Good Times here in East Tennessee. That is a big improvment over Tampa Bay, Florida where I purchased my Spyder.

I guess bottom line is we all have to do what is best for us. If BRP feels it best to release a dealership, if the dealership feels it best to part ways, if an owner feels it best to sell his Spyder, then that's how it will go.

Right now I have no real complaints and I'm keeping my Spyder.

I could use a new rear tire though....Anyone have a tire they could send me? I can't find mine! :dontknow:
