• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Go Pro camera mount

I'm trying to mount the Gro Pro camera on the dash of our RT problem it won't stay on the dash . I'm using one of the standard mounts
with the adhesive . I thought it would take a good video while traveling. I'm open to any idea or suggestion .

Using the suction mount on the side of the Spyder just in front of one of the radiator grills works best. Going to get probably more vibration than you want anywhere on the Spyder unless you are doing still images, but the shorter connectors the better. The longer a link you have to the base, the more the vibration is amplified.

I found the absolute best videos came from using the chest harness and wearing it up high.

Mounted on hood:

Mounted on side in front of radiator

Mounted to saddle bag

Chest mount

Would you recommend any particular brand and model?

The images above were from my gopro before I accidentally killed it by taking it in my pool without the correct waterproof housing.as you can see, the video quality is pretty good. However, the camera is a little complicated to operate, and it takes some time to turn on and get the recording started.

I replaced my goPro camera with a ContorRoam. The video above was only recorded it 720 P though the camera is capable of 1080 P. the video quality is still quite good. The Contour is about $125 less expensive than the go Po, and is very easy to operate. There is a single switch on the top that you could feel very easily through gloves. switch it on and it starts recording right away. This wins out over the go Pro where you have to hold down the power button for five seconds to turn it on, press the recording button to start. most of this you cannot do without looking at the cameras display just to be just the button presses registered.

The contour also has an adjustable rotating lens with a laser level which helps improve the number of positions you can mount it.

Given the lower price point, the comparable video quality, the greatly improved ease of use over the gopro, along with the rotating lens and laser level I can't help but recommended the ContourRoam even after it's single use.

I've tried various locations (chest mount, front side radiator mount, etc) but tend to like the front trunk panel the best. We recorded our escorted HOV ryde into Roller Thunder and Roller Thunder demonstration ryde and got some awesome video. The wife followed me and my Shadow 750 on her :spyder2: and GoPro. Although I've rode in Rolling Thunder 3 times before, this was the first time I had complete footage of my ride. We also captured a two-motocycle collsion (no serious injuries) while we were exiting the HOV heading into the Pentagon parking lot.

We're participating in the Grand Motorcycle Tour of Virginia and have been capturing video of our trips... Gotta love the GoPro system!!

I got the GoPro tripod mount, set it up with a RamMount 1 inch ball with 1/4-20 stud, and the shortest arm available. It can be mounted anywhere there's another ball, and aimed anywhere I want it.
