• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Givi Side Cases

I am still waiting for my red inserts (ordered in October '08). No one seems to know where they are or when they will arrive in North America. I asked my dealer if they are on a slow boat from Genoa, or maybe got hijacked by Somali pirates.:doorag: No one seems to know. Yet, it looks like at least one new Spyder in Quebec has red Givi cases, judging by what I saw on the factory website (picture attached).

What's up with that? Has anyone, anywhere else gotten red Givi bags yet?

Which mounting system did you go with?

BRP?

GIVI?

IND7?

I've seen the GIVI and IND7 units - interested to see the BRP version.

Industries 7 system. Nothing else was available when I bought my Spyder last October. Lots more choices now.

I would just get some Spyder matchiing paint and pull the black ones off and paint. Probably a lot cheaper!

Givi is based out of Charlotte, NC... Just got the silver sides and top case on my new Spyder.... They delivered in 2 days.

Thanks for the suggestion, guys. I might have been inclined to do that, but I paid for the red cases when I bought the Spyder. I didn't think it would be an issue, as Givi already had yellow and silver inserts. I figured the red would come along very soon thereafter. :dontknow:

I got an email from Industries7 today that they should arrive at duties(?) today and be in stock next week.

when you open this case when it's mounted on the spyder, don't everything fall out of the case? i come from crotch rocket side of motorcycle so never had a side cases before. will be very appreciated if someone could post pic with it open and from the back if you have brp rack

There are photos posted, but the inside half of the Givi case has elastic cross straps that hold the contents in place. The outside half only opens 90 degrees so clothes, etc stay in that half when opened. Some use case liners to make packing easier. If you were loading rice or popcorn there would be trouble, but clothes load just like a suitcase. Some have criticized the Givi cases as not being saddlebags, but suitcases. That actually is a nice feature since you can detach them and take them inside wherever you are staying.

:agree:They are fantastic for traveling.

The BMW and many other sport-touring and touring bike cases open clamshell style, like the Givi. Seldom any problems if you use the elastic straps. For loose stuff I often use Ziploc bags, too. On one of my R1100RT bags, I do have a hard divider pop-riveted in. This keeps all the little junk in place when I open that bag, and still allows me to use the lid and its straps for gear or clothes. I personally prefer this type of case to the top-opening cases...much easier to get to what you want.

thank you
i did not even consider givi because i did not like the bulky frame but brp's seems to be more of low-profile than others.
