There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Gas Octane YOU USE

bringing IT home this pm. sposed to be full of gas. my vtx was liquid cooled
and could use regular. victory used premium. never tried below 91 octane.
whats the minimum you guys and gals run ?--irv

I use 90. The highest available here in good old Alaska. My results are good. Your results may vary.

Suggest you follow the recommendations in the owner's manual and, wherever possible, get ethanol-free gas.

:agree: I got caught a couple of times on the way to SpyderFest, and had to run 89, and 87 swill...
The bike never missed a beat!

Depending on the location, I run 91-93(Premium). Since ETOH free fuel is hard to come by, I add some fuel additive to my tank occasionally.

As I see it...

you can run any good gas (Brand name). But for the price difference just get the best you can find. If it contains ethenol I run some sea foam every few tankfuls..Now if you want it to scream put in some racing fuel....:yikes: not cost effective....:lecturef_smilie:

I run highest octane most of time BUT when I get in a situation where the highest octane does not appear to get used frequently I use lowest octane (cheapest) gas thinking it will be fresher. :joke: My political rant. :banghead: We have to get the government to give us 1 handle that is ethanol free.

I also use the 93 octane unless I am stuck somewhere its not available.

The 2013 and newer Spyders all have a decal on the bike showing 91 octane is required.

I am sure many of you might know this but I want to pass it on to those who don't. In most modern fuel stations, there are only two underground tanks. One holds the lowest octane and one holds the highest. Anything in between is a combination of the two blended together at the pump.

To answer the original question... I take the highest I can get no matter what. My close to home everyday fuel for the Spyder and the Harley is Sunoco 93.

I run what my neighbor has in his 250 gallon ranch tank for his trucks in his back 40. I do get tired of carrying the 5 gallon cans over to Mr. Cognac across our back fence.

:yes::clap::gaah: :spyder2:

How much does the "hose hold"!!!???

I run 91 or as close as I can find but have had to run 89 and 87 a time or two with no issues.

But here is the BIG question. In a "normal" fill up, we are usually putting in 3 or 4 to 4.5 gallons. The guy before you at the gas pump most likely filled up with "regular unleaded" (87 octane). The fuel hose is long and of sizable diameter. I have to wonder.....how much 87 octane are you putting in your machine before you start getting pure 91 or 93 octane??? Hummmm..... THEN how much of that have YOU paid for that the next guy will be getting out of the hose? If I make a fuel run, I take a 1 gallon gas can along (again....a FUEL run near my house....so my saddle bag is empty enough to hold it) and put the first 1/2 gallon in the can before putting any in the Spyder. The can fuel is great for the lawn mower. My preference is to get a few 15 gallon barrels full of pure gas in 91 octane when I can get to the right places near me. Of course...the first gallon goes in the truck!

If any of the above fails....I just run whatever Mr. Cognac THINKS he has in his tank!!!
