• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

gas cap issues

I have 8200 miles on my RTS SE5 and am on my 3rd gas cap. On the first 2, the seal split, almost as if it was cut. It is impossible to overtighten the cap with the ratchet on it. Had the tech at the dealer look at it and the tank and he cannot see any place on the lip of the tank that may be the cause of the issue (like a sharp edge/spot). Has anyone else had issues with the seal on the gas cap?

Can't say that I have. I do recall a thread sometime ago where someone was talking about the gas smell and the gas cap. I don't think it was the same issue as yours though.

I am at 13,000 miles and 16 months and have not seen this issue.

:dontknow:
The only problem i had with the gas cap, was once about 6/7 months ago my grandson turned the ratchet cap too many times.
Then the cap then would not release. I had to pry it lose, a little white marine grease on the threads fixed that from happening again.

Yes I had the o-ring seal on it rip on something and destroy itself. The dealer took the dap off the older RS I was trading in and that has worked just fine since then. I did notice the one that destroyed itself never ratcheted like it was supposed to do. The o-ring seal did look like something cut it. The mechanic and I both looked hard and could see nothing amiss with the tank, threads, or the cap other than the o-ring being cut by something. This was early on before the first service was done and was not repeated on the cap I am using now. Bill ;)
