There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Fuse Box Question

Need some input. I know that after hooking up the 12volt, it requires a 3A fuse in the fuse box. My question is that I plan on using a small air compressor, after plugging a flat tire (someday), and the air compressor requires a 15A fuse to operate. would it be ok to but a 15A fuse in the 3A slot????...........What say you?? Thanks.

By your question, it appears you may be trying to use the fuse box on the bike. Many have installed generic fuse blocks powered directly from the battery, or at least powered by a larger circuit than you're suggesting.

Radio shack, and most auto parts houses have relays and fuse blocks that'll work for you.

I think that if you increase the fuse without decreasing the gauge of wire you are asking for trouble. The wire that BRP uses (i think is under rated )will not carry the load with out overheating and a potential fire could result. Just my 3 cents worth. I'm sure Scotty can give you the technical aspects.:dontknow:

It's best to run a separate power feed line, using the proper size wire, either directly from the battery or through some type of power bus system like many people have done. You can either get the parts yourself for a power bus or buy the one from Evoluzione.net.

If you are just worried about a flat put some Ride-On and you won't have to worry about it. Then install BRP's cigarrette lighterin the trunk and you'll also have a usable outlet.

I put a fuzz box in my spyder it cost $9.00 and wired it to the battery has 6 spots for fuzzs and has a pos and negtiv post so you can put 6 switchs and power 6 with there own fuzz got it from a marin store has cover to.
mounted it in trunk 3 holes 1 for wires in out and 2 to mount box easy powers all my lights to switchs and sigret puug for gps ..if fuzz blows itonly blows the one it runs on seald hole with tube so wires can go in out no water gets in .so you can ground to same fuzz box and power too easy and doesent bother computer on bike ... takes about 2 hrs to wire all ...........

battery --------------to fuzz box-------------to switch to -----------
1 lights on 20amp
2nd to sig lighter 15 amp
3 gps 15amp`
4 fog lights 20 amp
5 spare 20 amp
6 spare 15 amp

my fuzz box set up
20amp -- 15 amp ----- ground ground ==== (O) +
15 amp --20 amp -----ground ground ==== (O) -
20 amp --15 amp -----ground ground ====

this is how my fuzz box is set up Don....... plug and play lol

1/2 there...have the 12v in the trunk....just need the ride-on!

:agree: only I would put it a bit stronger. The wire size on this circuit is only 20 ga. that won't take much amperage, even at 12 volts. BRP has fused it in accordance with the normally accepted automotive standards, although more amperage, especially for shorter periods, would probably be perfectly acceptable. You are taking a big amperage leap, with a device that is not momentary operation. Do you really want to take a chance of burning up your wiring...or worse?

The circuit won't handle a compressor, Best thing would be to put in a separate fuse block, with heavy enough wiring that you won't smoke your Spyder. Evoluzione or Eastern Beaver have kits that are fairly easy to install.

Another alternative is to install a Powerlet outlet somewhere. I have one switched and one unswitched on the dash, but they also have cable connecting versions that would hook straight to the battery and lay under your seat. The unswitched variety can double as a battery charging connection. If you are going to use heated gear, that type of cable, attached to the battery is also usable. Many compressors (like the Slime) come with a variety of connectors, or you can get an adapter from Powerlet.
