Front Tires Thoughts

I am running the Continental Contiprocontact Size 165/60 R15. My Spyder handles excellent in the rain. I don't hear any noise. Running @ 19 psi.

I replaced the front tires last year@ 12,807 miles, I know have 16,000 miles on the spyder. I have 3,193 miles on the Continental Contiprocontact tires. Deanna
Deanna, how tight of a fit width wise are those tires? Looking at the specs they look to be the same width as the Altimax RT43 that Mike is using and he said the RT43s are a real tight fit and he wouldn't recommend them because of that.

Interesting how trends work. I bought a pair of Kumho Solus KH16s back when everyone thought they were the cat's pajamas. Now, everyone's favoring Federals.

I'm not complaining. Replacing the Kendas with almost anything else will dramatically improve your ride. I'm more than satisfied with my choice. In my case, it made a bigger difference than replacing the stock sway bar.

WELLLLLLL NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT

You will love your EVOs!!! Drifter crowd? Really Mike? What are you smokin'? Is that stuff legal in Vermont? :roflblack: The EVO tires have excellent grip! I have pushed my spyder through the twisties with my EVOs and it will lift the inside front tire long before it will ever slide. Rock solid!! Even in the wet. I cant give an opinion on any other tires except the Kendas which are crap.
... I'm very Happy for Joel ..... you should get at least 75 to 90,000 miles from them :clap::clap:............ Mike

I avoid tires from 2nd and 3rd tier manufactures and 3rd world countries. Too much at stake.

We sell and install Yokohamas, Continentals and Bridestones with excellent results. None are made in China.

Front tires

JC what do you recommend for front tires?
Is anything available to match the Yokohama Rear Tire?

I opted for the Continental ContiProContact in 175/55R15 for our 2014 RTS. They went back on our Spyder fine but I have not had it out yet because waiting for the weather to improve a little more.

OMG

I knew I could spark a response from you mike!:thumbup::thumbup::ohyea:
Is that what it's all about for you Joel :banghead::banghead: ..... Way back when you first arrived I commented to you because I thought you were selling stuff!!!!....and I knew Lamont was going to catch it and Spank you :gaah:.... so it was a FRIENDLY - HEADS UP .............. when I found out you weren't ..... I - APOLOGIZED ..... which is something that others here can't / won't / are incapable of .................... Get Over It

That's not the correct size, unless you're trying to do something different.

just ordered Kumho Solus kh16 155/60R-15 should work
I am running Continental Contiprocontact 165/60 R15 on the front tires.

Changed the Kenda's @ 12,807 miles, I have a 2014RTS-SE6.

I changed the front tires last year, the spyder handles fine, on dry, wet roads. The tires push the water away, great road contact. No problems with the nanny. Here is a picture of the Continental Contiprocontact : New Front Tires ( Continental) 014.jpg

What size are you running?

I ran two sets of them and got 30,000 miles out of them. They were okay on handling I'm now running the Federal Formoza and I love them. The handling is great. They are showing no signs of wear with 15,000 miles and I would recommend them. They are available in the stock size. Bought one set on newegg.com and another for a customer on e-bay.

What size? I am having a hard time finding 165/55r15

IdahoMtnSpyder, sorry about not getting back to you sooner, life got in the way, and I was :riding:. The tight fit ( Width wise) is finger width. If you end up getting the Continental Contiprocontact tires stay with the tire size: 165/ 60 R15. Mike has a 2014RT- Basic, no fender supports.

I have the same spyder as you do 2014RTS-SE6, and the same color. Deanna

What pressure for the Continental?

I put 18 in mine just because I ran 18 in the front Kendas. But I have now got some mileage on them and it seems fine and the tires are working well. In fact I think it has improved handling. I'm happy with the Contis in 175/55R15's. They fit well. No Mods needed.
