Fox Shocks on a 14 or newer?

Question,

Anyone install a set of the Fox shocks on a 14 or newer RT? If so what is your opinion of them?

I currently have just over 34,000 miles on ours and notice that the front end is lower then when it was new. I do not beleave putting on Ron's adjusters on stock shocks with this many miles on them is a wise choice.

I considered Elca's, but since they did not return my email, and after reading about issues some members have had with theirs I am now considering the Fox so any input would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Les

Put them on when we did first service was having noise diving going into turns , now have 42000 miles on them and like them. What nice was we could adjust them and they also raise front of machine from what originals were.

Have them...we ride two up a lot. Only adjustment is preload for the ride height.

I did some photos on the Spyder FB Tech page. Easy install overall.

Stock was not bad, but was a bit soft and we are not heavy people. We run a BajaRon Swaybar. These work well with it. Front is more planted with slightly firmer springs and better damping control.

I found them NIB shipped and no tax for $365. Huge improvement for us.

I would do it again as long as Ohlins were not available.

Thanks PMK!

Ohlins would also be my first choice. Ran them on my last two Harley's and worth every penny.

Since they are not available for the RT I most likely will go with the Fox. You got a great price on yours BTW.

Fox Shocks

I replaced my standard shocks on my 2015 RTS with the Fox Shocks. They were a definite improvement. I ride 2up with my wife quite often, and the improvement in cornering was amazing. I also have a BAJARON sway bar.

I have a set of the stock Fox Podium shocks with adjustable pre-load from an F3-S for sale if you are interested shoot me a PM.

I had the dealer put fox podium shocks on my 2015 RT. I also had the dealer install Lamonster sway bar and laser alignment.. The front of my 2015 RT Limited is set to stock ride height.
I like the fox shocks a lot. The ride is smooth and he spyder corners very well.

Hi,
I just purchased Fox shocks for my 2015 RT Limited. Did you install yours ? Wondering what is the best way to remove the top bolt ? Planting on changing the sway bar also, did it on my 2012 RTS but didn't have to replace the shocks. Work well with the adjustable shocks, Why on earth did BRP think it was better to install shocks that were not adjustable ? Really like the 1330 with 6 speed trans. But the front suspension sucks.
I would greatly appreciate your input....

Papa JIM,
I had my dealer, Caswell cycle, install them when I had scheduled service done. I figured for the shop time it was well worth it. The process seemed fairly easy though, instructions with the shocks were very clear to understand.

Papa Jim,

I have not installed them yet, but I plan on removing the funk for other work so I will not have an issue with the top bolt.
Good luck on your install.

Did you do the work yourself? And do you have to remove frunk to install shocks?

I did the install myself. The frunk was not removed. The upper bolts are a bit toug but not bad.

I was trying to change mine. But I could not get to upper bolt. It looked like I would have to remove the frunk to get to it.

Once you know the wrench setup, it is pretty easy.

I suggest a 15mm socket on a breaker bar for the front, a wrench for the back. Honestly, it was not that bad.

I swapped both front shocks in under 30 minutes including pulling out the jack and putting stuff away.

These FoxShox for us were a big improvement and we are not large riders.

Man on my 2015 RTS I can't get the wrench past all the plastic on upper.

Ours is a 14 RTs, should be the same, trueism there is stuff in the way but the wrench will snake in there, use care and spin the back wrench to get it apart.

A regular wrench is angled and will not fit on the front with the frunk installed. The breaker bar and socket fits.

This is what I have found works best on the front bolt. But others have their favorites as well. The shorter the offset the better.
