• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Fourth go around for the DESS problem.

Part # confusion.

Yes Dianna, I was a bit confused as well. The first replacement DESS module part # was 710004190 per my invoice. I understood this to be the replacement for the "bad" module. This one also was problematic. I did not, however, have the ignition replaced. When the dealer sent the requested pic to BRP and they said that the wrong module had been installed, the wheels started to spin in my head. OK...so how many remakes, ie part numbers, are there for the same part? Don't know but what I have in there currently, #710004916 seems to be working OK up to this point. Fingers and toes are crossed and that's a chore with size 17 feet. I did want to give an honorable mention to Pascale, and the folks at BRP. Without these guys driving the dealer to the right destination, my spyder would still be undrivable. I have to say that if any of you are not getting satisfaction from your dealer, contact BRP and open your own case. Glad I did. Kudos to you Canadian folks with the funny accent.

HI John, I wonder the same thing about the part #'s for the DESS module's. I hope that the part # 710004916 works for your spyder. What year is your spyder? Also, what model is your spyder?

Thanks for the update on our spyder. Ride Safe! Deanna

Year and model

Hi Deanna. I have a 2014 RTL. Have been riding quite a bit with frequent starts and so far, no issues to report. :dontknow:

Update on DESS repair.

Well...I got the bike back after 22 days in the shop. Rode it for a week and so far, no DESS orange screen yet. However, I was pulling the side panel to access the horn and noticed that the dealer had put the panel on with the front lower peg broken off. The peg was stuck in the grommet but was no longer attached to the panel. Deliberate attempt to hide the damage as nothing was mentioned when I picked up the bike. Glad the panel didn't blow off. The dealer, of course, doesn't know anything about it. Again, this dealer is Ride Now Powersports on Bell Rd. in Surprise Arizona. Avoid like the plague. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Not that that will get me anywhere but I think people should know. Guess I'll try to glue it together. Any suggestions for which glue to use? Thanks all.:banghead::banghead:

I used 5 minute epoxy, the first time, I wasn't very careful with it and it broke again. I redid it and its holding good. The screw that holds it on, is a very small security pattern, but you can find it, I have a HF set and it was in there.

As for Ride Now, I suggest that in addition to the BBB, you go to your city and take them to small claims court. Find out the cost of the screw and the plastic part. If you have never been before, win or lose you will learn some important stuff.

Let me tell you a little story: Burlington SantaFe Railroad owed me a little money and said "pi$$off". I filed in small claims, when the local guy got served he called and said "Who do you think you are you can't sue us". I replied that since he was looking at it, obviously I could. They have 20 days to take care of it or show up in court. On the 19th say, which was a Wednesday, one of their lawyers called from Corp. He said "ok, we owe you the money and we will be sending you a check, but we are not going to pay the extra fees". (The court says you are entitled to fees) I said "Tomorrow you will show up in court and I will win, and on Friday you will be laying track to my house to deliver me a train". The guy really cracked up and was really laughing, "Your full check is in the mail".

The only way to make a change sometimes to kick them in the eggs.:banghead::banghead::banghead:
