A 1968 Doge Dart, with the legendary 426 Hemi under the hood!
These things weren't allowed anywhere NEAR the stock classes. They all ran Super-Stock: right out of the box!

What memories .....

About 25 years ago, I had an accident and my car was in the shop for a few weeks. A friend at work said he had a car his wife didn't like and I could use it while mine was being repaired.

When he fire up that hemi and backed it out of the barn, I thought I had died and gone to heaven ....

Loved driving that beast ....

Friend of mine built a '67 Nova with an L-88. He could pull a ferocious wheelie in third gear with that thing.

One night we were out trolling and he was going a bit fast across the San Rafael-Richmond bridge. The only turn-off was the entrance to San Quentin so he stopped for the CHP. No traffic on that highway in those days. The CHIPS told him if he would let him drive a circuit across the bridge and back there would be only an "investigation" ticket. Never saw a cop smile so much as that guy did when he came back.
