• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Forgotten Cars from your youth

I was living in the little town of Mahopac in '69-70 and test drove one of these with the 390 go-pak and 4-speed stick. Wanted to buy it in the worst way but a two-hour commute to White Plains every day killed that. The gas bill would have been way too much even in those "good old" days.

Interestingly, you can still find cherry AMX's and Javelin's fairly cheap. When I bought my Spyder it was a decision between a restored '70 AMX and the Spyder.

Had a long list of toys including my '72 Duster, '72 Triumph TR6, '79 Fiat x 1/9, custom built '79 RX7. The Triumph was probably a favorite and more of an accomplishment as I did a ground up rebuild in an apartment parking lot while an airman stationed at MacDill. The first photo was after some guys from the lab came over and helped lift the body off the frame and put it on 4X4's and the second was after it was back together and I was driving it. Took it all the way to painting but never did. Knew that would be it's best shape and time to sell and I didn't want to.

I owned a '63 TR3 (rare B version) and several years later a '71 TR6. Wish I still had both of them now.

What was great about the Mr 2 was the roar of the engine right behind my head.

This is another car I still would love to have. A 85' Supera. Again, they make nothing like this anymore. Toyota just makes boring boxes now.

They still sell some cool stuff...

Scion FR-S.jpg

This one is the Scion version, But Toyota has re-badged it as the "86" for their line-up!

EDT: The 2017 86!

Hi Bob,

Re: They still sell some cool stuff...

Here is something that they make that I consider far cooler:

http://www.lexus.com/models/LC/gallery

UPDATE: Sorry, brain fart. Juxtaposed the Lexus LFA for the LC. My bad. Below comments refer to the LFA which stopped production in 2012.

According to Lexus there are still 12 in dealer inventory across the USA but it is unknown whether they are for sale or not. A recent writeup quoting a number of Lexus people said they were not worth their asking price and had become ancient history technically in the years since their introduction.

Hi RinconRyder,

Re: in the years since their introduction.

There is a brand new in my neighborhood somewhere. I saw it in a shop having a paint protection film put on it two weeks ago; and then saw it driving down one of the major blvds near me.

Since ( I think ) it just came out last year, where do you get the 'years since' thought?

The only Lexus dealership in Portland, OR ( just up the street from where I live ) had one or two when I was there last week.

PS) And, just for grins & giggles, about 2 weeks ago I was on the Lexus website & 'built' one for myself. The only problem I had was the $92K pricing. :banghead:

:D That just means that you've got even GREATER reasons to buy only winning PowerBall tickets! :2thumbs:

Hi Gene,

Re: my first was a 37 oldsmobile

If we're going to be talking about 'first' cars, my first was this:

1947 Chevy Fleetline, had it my Junior year in high school. I sold it to buy the '32 5-window.

Central Office Production Order...
THESE were the cars that you wished you knew how to order!
Think of the "Yenko cars"; and imagine if they had been built by the factory...

That Nova might have had a Corvette L-88 under it's hood! :yikes:

About the only thing that might have been crazier:

Hemi Dodge Dart.jpg
A 1968 Doge Dart, with the legendary 426 Hemi under the hood!
These things weren't allowed anywhere NEAR the stock classes. They all ran Super-Stock: right out of the box!
