• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

flat tire, what will happen then?

Anybody had flat tire experience? Tow cost and repair cost and inconvenience?

Flat tires are always fun. Too many variables to really nail down cost. But the proper amount of Ride-On can easily save you from ever getting a definite answer to this question.

Some things you just really don't want to know!

So far, so good in 60,000 miles on spyders. I try to make sure there is plenty of tread and avoid obstacles as much as possible. Ride on is a good suggestion and those things that you thread into the tire and put in a plug seem like they might help--but not with a blowout of course.

I carry a compact 12v compressor and a hole plug kit and keep my fingers crossed I'll never need to use them.

:agree: And I have needed to use mine. I used a Stop and Go patch kit which worked just fine until I could get to a dealer. The flat was easy to find - a nail was buried right in the middle of the tread.

:agree: x2, had a blow out once on the front of my Goldwing, scary stuff, stayed up luckily I was going straight at the time. Used my progressive insurance to tow to dealer, didn't coast me anything. Never use the inflator flat cans on two wheel, it will seal the tire, but your balance will be so out of wack it's dangerous.

I also have the big bike parts aftermarket tire pressure kit on the Spyder, nice to have instant tire pressure info. Might do ride on but I would prefere dealer to add, don't trust myself.

Your a lot safer on the Spyder with a blow out than on two wheels, just watch where you ride and just enjoy the journey.

Having never heard of "a Stop and Go patch kit" I googled it and don't understand what I see.

It seems that the kit contains a patch that would need to be on the inside of the tire.

If so how do you get the tire off the rim on the side of the road?

If the patch just sticks to the outside of the tire it seems it would come off very quickly.

Must be a different patch kit your looking at, :dontknow: The plug is pushed into the hole from the outside and the co2 inflates the tire, The tire stays on the rim and on the bike, I have the kit and had to use it once,

The Stop'N'Go needed is a plug kit. You insert aq plug from the outside with the special tool included, after you clean and ream the hole.

It takes 3-6 standard cartridges or 2-4 large cartridges to fill a large motorcycle tire just to a pressure to get you to an air station. It would take a dozen or more to fill a Spyder tire. Not a viable option, IMO.

Check here for the Stop n Go I was talking about: http://www.aerostich.com/stop-and-go-pocket-plugger-tubeless-tire-repair-kit.html

I agree with calling AAA and have it taken to a dealer. That is what I do with my cars and trucks, only with them they can changed the flat along side of the road, so why not have them tow the Spyder?:lecturef_smilie:

flat tire rear

Anybody had flat tire experience? Tow cost and repair cost and inconvenience?

after Durango rally, headed for Denver for Grandaugters wedding, 7pm Monday the 25th.
just outside AURORA,CO, ran over a bungee hook with rear tire, flatened immediately, called
tow truck, took bike to Honda dealer for a plug. they were closed, nite man let me park it inside
fence. tire plugged the next day. missed the wedding but made it to reception. Called Longmont dealer next day for a new tire (didn't trust plug for 2200mi to home) dealer would
replace tire 3 days later, had to take care of his own customers first. Had to drive to
Florence,CO, 125 miles and had a tire the next day. (tow bill $190.00 for 10mi) BRP called
today and is issuing 190.00 credit chit to me. (I paid tow bill) In PA our dealers locally, don't
push people away...............
