• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First "real" problem.

Flashing check engine light. Intermittent "Limp Home" message, but performance seemed unaffected.

Happened to be going in the direction of the shop so it's there now.

Service writer speculated bad fuel.
I had that thought too and would have pursued that myself but they needed to see it for a couple of other things anyway.

New sway bar, different return spring on the "hand brake" and laser alignment.

Hope they don't need to have it too long.

Not likely...

Surprised they did not check for codes to see what it is. You say it was running fine not something that happens with bad gas. I don;t see much bad gas issues but a lot of suspitions of bad gas. But nice you were on your way there anyway. Let us know what they say it was. I see more glitches than real problems on these machines. A lot of faulty sending units for sure. Hope they don't hold you there too long....

My 2014 RTS had the same symptoms. Ended up being a bad brake switch tripping one of the sensors/ecm.

I also will be interested to see what the problem was. My operator's guide says the flashing engine light cause is, "Important engine management component or VSS malfunction." I agree with Gene; they should have tried to pull codes to give you some idea.

Sorry. My post wasn't clear at all.

It needed to stay for some other stuff, for which I did NOT have an appointment.
So there wasn't much point in interrupting the mechanic to do a scan.

Heard back today. The fault code pointed to a bad "cam position sensor".
It must have glitched and then started working again.......'cause the engine probably wouldn't even run in limp mode if there really was NO signal from the cam sensor.
Anyhow, a new one is ordered.
They said about 4 NM days.
From what I've heard here, it might be 4 weeks.
I have my fingers crossed.

Glad they didn't stick with the 'Bad Gas' prognosis. Did not fit at all with the symptoms. I agree with others. BUDS would have been the better 1st step. It amazes me that these dealerships don't stock more of the problematic parts like sensors. Why does every repair need to sit, waiting for parts?

Hope you get it back soon.

I believe we've seen that cam position sensor problem before on SL. It's a warranty item for you; hope they get one in quickly.
