There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hello my name is Patrick I have been reading this forum for a little over a month and today I was able to test drive a Spyder for the first time. I love the Spyder it is the coolest thing that I have ever ridden.:2thumbs: I drove a hour and a half to ride it because my closet dealer will not allow anyone to demo one unless you put a deposit down first. So I go to the next closet dealer and he seems very help full and allowed me and my friend to both take one for a ride. It is exactly what I thought it would be like after reading this forum. I really want a Phantom I love the way it looks and all of the accessories that it comes with. The dealer has one coming in and he is not sure if he will be able to get another one or not. The problem is that for financial reasons I would like to wait until August to get it. I have read that a dealer can turn any Spyder into a Phantom because everything on it is bolt on accessories but he told me that it would cost close to $22.000.00 to do it that way, is that correct? I have also read that dealers have built Phantom's for customers and charged them the same price as a Phantom $19.000.00 for it. Is that possible or is the dealer trying to pressure me into buying one right now? Thank you for any help or suggestions that you may have.

Hi Patrick K B, welcome
Glad you finnally got to go for a test ride.
I really don't know the price of a phantom kit, but I would guess, those prices are way above cost. :dontknow:
Anyway, I sure you'll get the right answers here shortly.

on BRP's website you can buy the phantom kit (change all yellow/silver or red) to flat black for about $1050. There are also a few on ebay for aourn $825, but im not sure what other accessories you want.

welcome, glad you were able to get bitten by the spyder. If finances are an issue, consider a used one, there are some good deals right now and purchase a black phantom panel kit and make it what you want for probably less than new out the door. Just an idea.

Those prices are high.. Shop around, ask more questions here, and you'll end up with a more realistic price.

There are a lot of good deals on 08 demos that have anywhere from 400 to 800 miles on them... start around 13k, and not much more to turn into what you want. + they come with full warranty. :)

welcome

My opinion....... Don't let the cost or availability of the Phanthom hold you up from getting a Spyder. Even if you start with any color, the silver bieng the cheapest, you can get the body kit later on as suggested, or have the silver panels painted any color, flat black has to be the easiest and cheapest. There have been some interesting paint jobs.

As far as the rest of the options, they all can be added later as you have the time and money. And there will be mods you may want to do that are not on the Phanthom, like handle bar risers, mirrior extentions, kits from NMN that make the machine more visible and safer, etc. The sooner you get ANY spyder, the sooner the fun starts!

Hey, Patrick.

ddeyle is one of the folks here who has got a 2009 Phantom, you may want to send him a personal message.

I'd say If it's a 2009 GS SM5, it should have:

Matte black center panel, left and right front fenders, left and right side panels, hood, front facing, rear fender, rear tip.
6-Spoke Custom Wheel Kit
Fog Lights
Seat Skin
Mono Seat Cover
Trunk Liner
Anti Vibe Bar Ends
Front Axle Cap Cover
Front Shock Bolt/Nut Covers
Caliper Trim (red)
maybe Premium Decals (embossed, not flat stickers)
Ultra Sport Windshield ("V" notch)
Billet End Caps
Billet Rear Axle Covers
Billet Swing Arm Cover

I'd say that's over $4000? worth of accessories added to a stock Spyder. I know you might not have chosen all of them, but still, they're on it.

If it has the Hindle exhaust installed (unless you want your bike r e a l quiet, this is a nice ceramic exhaust) that's another $400 to $500. See if he'd throw that on for not much more.

Only my $0.02 or $0.03.

Good luck!

Don't get the phantom....add the black later, if you want it...

I'm not into the phantom as I like visibility on the road...the yellow or red is the way to go for me...figure these are the colors that fire trucks use...for a reason.

You'll never see a black fire truck...

Only paid 16,300 for my 2009 SE5 in Berkeley Springs WV. Then added the Phantom kit for $900. Didn't get much from BRP except the chrome wheels and fog lights (only got those because you need them to add NMN's HID kit)...got most of my mods from NMN, Kewlmetal, and Corbin.
