• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First home oil change.

Just completed the first oil change on my new/used 2013RTL. We are going for a run next weekend so I thought I would check the oil and there was nothing on the dipstick. Was suppose to be serviced when we bought it a month and a half ago at 4300 miles. Headed out to the garage with my tablet, with the electronic manual, and a few beers. It actually only took two beers to get all of the Tupperware off and oil and filters changed, not too shabby. After pouring used oil back into the quart containers, works great for the chainsaw, found it to be over a quart low, no leaks. Can definitely see me doing my own work from here on out.

Remembering....

these machines use oil pretty regularly. Should be checking and adding about every 500 miles or so. The level checking is also different and needs to be done accordingly. If none of this was done since you got it I'm not surprised it was low a quart...if it was done then they delivered it to you low on oil. But now that you have mastered the change you are in full control.....:2thumbs::clap:

I've got 2,500 miles on mine and the oil level is still up to the "MAX" line. Maybe just the older ones use oil? :dontknow:

I just went looking to purchase oil filter kits on eBay for an 2009 Rs se5.
It is saying it will only fit extended transmission ........what's the story there?how do you know if yours is the extended one or not?

Read this bulletin. In 2012 they extended the service schedule. In doing so if you have a SE5 (not a SM5) then they made the transmission filter larger and thus supplied a new larger filter cap.

Most people should have this now if you have had your Spyder serviced at a dealer.
