• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Filled with book oil change fill quantity, now over-filled! Ideas?

I have a 2012 Syder SE5 RT model. The Owner's M. says it take 4.5 quarts of oil when changing the oil and filters. I drained the oil from the oil tank and sump. I changed the filters (2) on this model. I ran the engine for 3 min. checking for leaks - none. When I checked the oil level it showed 1 quart over filled. I did notice when I was filling the oil tank I had to start the engine at 3 quarts in to pull the oil through before I could get the rest of the oil in (another quart). I have changed my oil 3 times since I bought this Spyder used and didn't have this problem. Any ideas what I did wrong?

Should be 4.25 quarts for a full oil change. But that would not explain 1 quart overfill. But I'm wondering how you know it is 1 quart over? There is no overfill marks on the dip stick. Have you removed enough oil to bring the level back to the full mark?

I haven't drained any back to operating level. The "quart over" was just a guess based on how far above the upper line it was. Good point - I'll drain and re-check. Thank you for your suggestion!

Be sure to check the oil level after the proper engine run time and shut down time. Any other time will give you bad readings.

Here's how I do it.....

Have always drained oil, replaced filter added three quarts of oil and then started the engine and run it up to operating temp. After that add as needed. You will never get all the oil out like you can never fill your gas tank to its stated capacity....
