• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Fessing up ....

.... Did a dumb thing yesterday, then an even dumber thing :opps:

So --- got new tires all round, had the dealer install T-valves on the front wheels. Before reaching home (15 miles from dealer and 2 miles from home), Deb (in the car) led me to the supermarket. She shopped - I waited.

Free time on my hands -- "let's install the FOBO heads on the valves" FOBO head nearly 1" across and was going to be a tight fit the way the valve was sitting, but it got there. This turned out to be first dumb move.
Deb finished the shopping and heads home -- "I'll be right behind you Deb :riding:" ---- NOPE !!

Bike pulls to one side riding out of parking lot ---- FLAT TIRE !! ----- T-valve has snapped off

I'm soooo pissed at myself I now perform the second dumb move . --------------- I slowly ride the 2 miles home (max 10mph) with many car horns honking to inform me of the flat tire ..

I wave at them -- they can't see my shame faced grin :opps::opps:

Think I damaged the rim or tire folks ?? They look OK.
I do a shame faced visit to the dealer this morning -- wheels in hand.

Wish I had a tire changer -- big trip starts Wednesday,

OK -- let me have it :lecturef_smilie:

We all do the dumb thing at one time or another. Maybe putting the FOBO on your value stems wasn't dumb, but riding the 2 miles home maybe was really dumb.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Bummer...

Wow..tough to admit to the moves but there are many that asked the question of putting "T" valves on their wheels and this sure puts a consideration point on the table. They are a novel gadget but don't find them of much use unless they come up with a autofill system. jmo Hope you get it all straightened out and running even if you have to go back to the straight stems....

If you drove 2 miles on the flat tire and are heading out on a trip, I would not even think about not replacing that tire. No way would I chance that.

Back to straight stems for sure -- already bought the metal ones from Cycle Gear last night.

RIDING ON A FLAT TIRE

Do you have KENDA tires ???? ..... the reason I ask is .... I inadvertently ran my rear tire , a Michelin Hydro-edge at 6 lbs psi for about 4 miles !!!! after I found out about it ..... probably 15 prior to :banghead::banghead: ...... ( leaking valve stem ) .... Well the point is , the rim wasn't even close to touching the ground ..... with zero air - well I don't know whether the sidewalls would have held it up ???? ....... Mike

We've all been there!

I'm not sure I would have risked damaging the tire and wheel (or the ire of other motorists), but trying to make the bike more safe with the FOBO doesn't fall into the 'dumb' category I don't think. Hope you're able to take your planned trip okay.

That sucks

Sorry to hear about that, we've all either done it or were lying that we haven't done it!

Brave man--very brave. :bowdown::bowdown:

I think you are right up there now. If you want to read about someone that did similar--search for the thread "Stupid Pills." That may give you a laugh or two. That one cost me about $500 bucks. And I did it in my driveway. :roflblack::roflblack:

I have the T stems on my 2012 RTL and have had no problem with them. I like them because it lets me adjust the air pressure without removing the FOBO. I put the screw type on my original valve stems. When I put them on I mounted them so that the "T" part points straight up towards the center of the wheel so I have room for the FOBO heads. The other part of course points out for ease of air input. The nice thing about the screw on type is that they have a swivel nut that allows you to position them before you tighten them down. Without these I think I would get rid of my FOBO as it is too much hassle to be removing them to adjust air pressure.

If they were car tires, they probably are OK. Byke tire, no way....

We've all been there in one way or another, HayRog. Looks to me like over excitement got the better of you ;) Having been there, I now only ever make changes and mods in my garage, NEVER on the road. :opps:

Hope the rear wheel is OK . One of the big plusses with FOBO is that you only have to check pressures when it tells you, which is usually before you head out, and fill up in the comfort of your garage with one of Lamont's excellent inflators. (Or similar). I am using the plain rubber stems and have never had any issues.

That's how we learn. I just installed mine. Been checking air pressure on phone for two hours. Lol
