Review: Car tires on Spyder F3

In the last couple of weeks I have got my new tires on the F3 Limited. Most riding is 2 up and neither of us are lightweights.

Here is what I ordered:
Rear 225/60R-15 GENERAL ALTIMAX RT43 SL ($118.99 Tire Rack)
Front 175/55R-15 VREDESTEIN QUATRAC SL (103.22 each Tire Rack)

Speedometer is 'dead on' now.

Rear was installed by my CanAm dealer ($110)
Fronts I carried to local tire shop ($30 mount, balance, and longer valve stems)

I installed the Fobo 2 Trike from Lamonster ($148)

Today I went for a quick ride (40 miles) to check my tire pressures. Road was sweepers and hills. Outside temp was around 82

Here are my pressures during ride. I think I am good to go. Next Sunday we head to Colorado for a week of riding the mountains and just relaxing in the cool mountain air. Also will be celebrating our 52nd Anniversary while we are there.

Thanks for the up-date  ...... As to the psi's you have, for Auto tires ( only ) Peter and I like 15-17 front ( 17 if aggressive ) and18-19 REAR ...... this is with or without a passenger, doesn't really matter ..... The tires are actually an important part of the over-all system ...... the ride will be more comfortable if you use our numbers ...... good luck .... Mike

Just a short note here, There is no such tire as a VREDESTEIN QUATRAC SL, The SL stands for Standard Load and has a max pressure of 35psi, XL's are to 41psi
It is not a tire model.

Ok. Those were the hot tire temp. After sitting for a few hours. The tires cooled down to 86 degrees and the pressure dropped to 17.8 front and 20 for the rear. How much more should I let out for cold temps. In the mornings it is fairly chilly ( we treat almost 5000 ft elevation ) and this morning when I started the Spyder they were under 17 on the front and just 18 on the rear.

Don't know what to tell you. I copied and pasted that from the invoice I got from Tire Rack.

Personally I wouldn't be concerned about those temps .... the tires will heat up a bit ( that's normal & expected ) and get to where you want them to be ..... The PSI's I quoted above are the COLD starting pressures ...Peter and I have calculated what the avg. increase is going to be after warming up ..... Mike
