• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Feedback on the new Forum Format?

I know you're looking for 'complaints'. But so for, I've found everything I was looking for. Maybe in different place, different name, or different format. But I really like the new site. I know it's a lot of time consuming work to make a change like this. And I've seen changes for the worse. But not this one. Thanks!
Not just complaints, we really want to see/hear "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" ;)

What I don't like is that you have effectively locked out all gmail and yahoo email users along with any other user whose email requires a dmarc record.

I have not been able to login to my "original" account on SL for almost a month now. At this point I am about to abandon that account even though I have almost 4 years of posts on that account because any email from that account on a password reset fails to reach me because g-mail is rejecting any email from SpyderLovers.

It would be nice if you could fix the issues with the DMARC, MX, SPF, and DNS records which is required so your website will play nice with the rest of the internet.

You may only be hearing this from me because I took the time to troubleshoot this on my own to figure out how to get myself back on spyderlovers by using an email that does not require DMARC. (at least for the time being until they start requiring dmarc like everyone else is doing right now and with that hotmail address that you are using to send emails with on this platform which is already being dumped into a spam folder may break even further in the future if they start requiring a dmarc record.)

I am holding off on any posts as I don't really want to be replying or making posts on this account as it will be abandoned once I can access my original account.

As I mentioned in my DM reply to you about 5 days back Clover, I have forwarded all that info on, just haven't heard anything back yet... However, it does appear that at least the earlier part of your problems with accessing the Forum may have just been the same database problems that everyone experienced for a week or two before the platform change, so you weren't alone in having issues for the first two weeks... :cautious:

And when I responded to your DM last week, I did warn you that you might need to be a little patient, seeing as how he's pretty busy right now. Besides, unlike some others, you are actually able to post, aren't you?! ;)

So please, bear with us. Your issue has been noted and is on the list of things to address & attempt to resolve. But you will need to be patient, there are a lot of things still needing resolution. (y)

Sorry if this seemed like an inpatient reply and I know what your IT guy is going through. I was a multitude of things for an HBCU down in Raleigh.

I wore multiple hats of Network Admin, Sysadmin,Desktop Admin, Mobile Device admin, and Webmaster all at once and when something was broken guess who heard about it at all times of the day. You got it, it was me.

The only reason I replied was that there was a new thread asking people for feedback of what they Like /Didn't like about the site. I apologize if I offended anyone but I am just trying to convey that information as it is a very basic need to have these issues corrected in order for the website to work as intended. I will keep my mouth shut from this point forward.

At first glance I’m not seeing all the distracting emojis. Especially the super annoying animated ones.
So, that’s awesome.
Be nice if there was a way to hide all emojis in every post. I’ve never seen a board with so many used.

Any problems I had with it in the beginng have since been fixed. Easy to use, easy to navigate. East to post pictures.
I had to change the way I posted some things due to my non-standard operating system, but once that was worked out, I have no complaints at all with it. Good job on making it an easy transition.

I am getting used to it. I like the brightness, and the notification bell on the right task bar.

When will I stop getting the Oops message when I login?

I am also still getting the above message. Can get no help to remove it or get it corrected. I have thrown in the towel on this one and it always boots up after hitting the "what's new" button.

When I get it, I just refresh the screen and it goes away.

I thought I saw a post recently on how to post photos on the redone website but it eludes me at this time.

I am attempting to change my avatar and post some pics of my new RT.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Small request, but I would also like to see 25-30 posts before clicking "view more".

I wouldn't mind the square profile pics returning (over the circles).

I miss the post counter, but I imagine that may not be transferable.

And, I have a suspicion that reducing image size if too large may something you can program in (rather than hoping everyone will see and be able to honor the requests about image sizes). I would think there should be a setting, but perhaps not. I asked ChatGPT and this was the shared advice:

SpyderLovers.com operates on the XenForo platform, as indicated by the footer note: “Community platform by XenForo ® © 2010-2024 XenForo Ltd.”

XenForo includes features that allow administrators to manage image uploads, including setting maximum dimensions for images. When users upload images exceeding these specified dimensions, XenForo can automatically resize them to comply with the set limits. Administrators can configure these settings in the XenForo control panel under the attachment options, where they can define maximum width and height parameters for uploaded images.

To enable automatic image resizing, administrators should access the XenForo control panel, navigate to the attachment settings, and specify the desired maximum dimensions for images. This ensures that any uploaded images exceeding these dimensions are automatically resized, maintaining consistency and optimizing storage space.

For detailed guidance on configuring these settings, administrators can refer to the official XenForo documentation or seek assistance from the XenForo community forums.

I really like the clean interface and the related fonts. Makes reading much easier on both computer and tablet.

One more thought - while I know we are all happy to have new members, having a thread for each one that sticks out in our view of "new" threads and sits empty probably isn't the most useful thread to create, or our best look in not saying hi to every new person (and I'm not suggesting we do).

Perhaps that feature can be turned off, it isn't helping anyone feel welcome.

I use Gmail and have not had any problems with the new or old site. I also have an ATT email (uses Yahoo) and could never get a response email when I tried to signup (several tries).

I agree. While it is easy to just ignore them, they take up a lot of room, especially if you are using a phone to browse.
