• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

fans in frunk

Sorry, but cannot add much mechanical--that is not my forte. I will add, measure twice, cut once. :roflblack:

Online..!!

Where did you find that? homemade or available commercially?

got them on line..turbo fans come in many colors the vent tube I'm not sure they came in red..ebay has them. Working on the how I will work them into the spyder...!!

phil--really like the fan on the belly pan. do you run it all the time ? another question-any problem running in the rain ?

thanks-tim

Tim-
I run it most of the time. I do turn it off if I'm sitting still, showing the lights, and when it gets chilly for obvious reasons. Rain- I went through serious rain about 3 weeks ago with zero issues.

John,
Please keep in mind that Phil's bike is a different year than yours...
(NOT that I want to be raining on a Parade here...)

Excellent point oh wise one. No matter the year, if there is a belly pan on the radiator side, you should be able to fine a fan that will fit in there.

When I first posted this about 14 months ago, Scotty made a really good point and I'll put it here again: Whenever you do any electrical work in the engine cavity area, REMEMBER to double and tripple check your electrical work. The last thing you want is any sparking in an area where gas vapors might exist. I even looked at marine bulge fans for that reason, but the CFM was mush lower. Since this was designed as a radiator fan, I felt good about its safety. But I also took extra time to armor the fan lead wires and all crimped connections.

I might say that it sounds a bit like a jet engine when it fires up! Once the engine is running, the sound is not really noticeable.

i was thinking last night and as most of you know by now i don't sleep and when i think it starts trouble. first, do you think if we changed the anti freeze to a high temp anti freeze like ENGINEICE http://www.amazon.com/Engine-Ice-TYDS008-Performance-Coolant/dp/B000H01NFY to help with the high heat. than i was thinking i don't travel and if i put a radiator fan in the frunk facing the engine and ducted two 4 inch dryer exhaust hoses into the front of the frunk to come on with a relay when the radiator fan comes on, do you think it will help the cooling of the motor under the Tupperware.

my other thought was if there was enough room around the outside of the frunk than two inline small fans mounted to the sides of the frunk with the same dryer hoses hooked to them and a switch that we could mount to keep them on when in traffic or when we feel we need them. what i am not sure of is, do we have enough power on the bike to do something like this. just a thought and would like some NICE ideas on this.

Heck, don't stop there....Throw some bags of ice in the frunk too. Then you could blow ice cold air at the motor! :p:joke:

Seriously, I would skip the antifreeze gimmicks. If you want real radiator cooling improvements within the radiator/fluid then change your mixture for more water. Water cools better than antifreeze. However, it's not recommended......

Speaking of frunks does anybody remember what thread had the yellow spyder with the narrow frunk??

Or has that pic in particular?

Want it for part of a new thread. ;);)
