• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3s Travel cover needed - any recommendations on which is best?

I need a cover for the F3S for when I trailer the spyder on my utility trailer. Going cross country with it, and need the Best one.
Thanks for any recommendations.

Either use a box trailer or leave it uncovered. You can put a piece of plywood (securely attached) in front of it if you want to protect against pebble dings. But anything that flaps (and a fabric cover will certainly do this), will damage the paint/plastic.

You can wash the bugs off. You can't so easily fix paint damage.

Looks like the consensus is not favorable for the cover. Good! I just saved some money for now.

I'm still going to need a good outdoor cover (water repellent) if possible.
I'm sure BRP's covers are good, but probably cost more than others. I'm OK with that as long as it meets my needs.

Think of it in this fashion- If you drove your Spyder cross country, would you have a cover on it? I think not.

Many years ago, my uncle placed a cover on a car he and my father hauled on an open trailer from New York to Tampa Florida, and the tarp they thought was well secured was not, so it took some paint off the car from some flapping of the tarp. For me, it is not worth damaging the Spyder with a tarp for what the Spyder is made to drive through.

@Dasmoetorhead - just an FYI … a F3-S will fit into a UHaul 6’x 12’ enclosed trailer - but ONLY the one with the double swing-out doors in back, and NOT the roll-up door. My wife pulled that UHaul from here in south Texas the ~525 miles to Dallas, loaded up the new-to-her ‘15 F3-S, and pulled it back home the next day. I had two older ramps that were made from 2”x 10”x 8’ boards, and the dealer had a ramp for the rear tire. Not sure how long you’ll be gone, but daily (local) rental here is less than $30/day. Just an option for you …

This is what I use, fits and works great. It was a bit less expensive when I bought it...

As others have stated, protect the Spyder from flying debris and skip the cover while towing. Assuming you utility trailer has a (more-or-less) solid floor, a 24" tall X trailer width piece of plywood securely attached to the front rails on the utility trailer. Make sure the plywood rests against the trailer floor so stones and debris don't come under it. Securely fasten: for example, a 70 mph wind pushing against a 2' tall x 6' wide flat surface exerts over 150 pounds of force against the plywood. (For reference: https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/wind-load)

No matter how securely one thinks the cover is tied down, there will be spots where the fabric will move relative to the Spyder's surfaces. Even a small amount of dust between the cover and Spyder will damage painted surfaces after miles and hours on the trailer.

FWIW, I used to polish steel with a little paste on a felt stick; the paste was diamond grit but the steel was hardened. The same relative condition would exist with dust particles soon to be embedded in the soft nap of the cover's inside and paint on Spyder.
