• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ok
I know it's early but keep the thread open.

WHAT'S TOP SPEED ON F3
I know some of you guys like to push the envelope so keep us posted.
Didn't buy to always ride the speed limit :yes::clap:

Hang in there..!!

still haven't seen the top speed of the RT 1330....and the top speed for the rest vary a lot...say around 120....:dontknow:

Well there are three things to consider when discussing possible top speeds on the F3.

First are the settings in the ECU. Although it has the same motor as the RT, a few little tweaks to the ECU will make a lot of difference
and also it is rumoured that our fun little friend Nanny has been given hot pants to wear rather than the long dress she
wears on the RT. She still looks after us but now she is showing more leg!

Secondly, the F3 weighs a lot less than the RT and therefore will be certain to have a much better power to weight ratio.

Third, I haven't got mine yet and I'm a known speed freak who will get the last ounce of power out of the machine! It runs in the family,
my great uncle was this guy :roflblack::

top speed according to BRP gearing specs.

Hi, The top speed for F3 USA is 213KLM per hour at 8000 RPM in 6th (7000rpm =186)

The Euro / Australian version has top speed of 240kph at 8000rpm. SMALLER rear sprocket! (7000RPM=210)

That's if they rev out that far.

OJ - we both get the go faster model.
I have the specs for 900,1150rpm ,1500,2000,2500,3000 etc

Hmmmm.......That works out at 147odd mph! Even if there's enough torque developed to pull it, I don't think that
Nanny is going to be too keen.....hot pants or not!!:)

Most high hp cars attain top speed in 5th gear if it's a 6 speed. Even a 500+ hp car doesn't have the power to run to redline in 6th. (the car will actually slow down as you shift from 5-6) The weight of a Spyder will affect it's acceleration, but not it's top speed. I would guess that with the aerodynamics of a brick, a Spyder doesn't have to have the nannys limit it........the wind will do that very efficiently. My guess is <115 mph for top speed an F3 has about the same hp and tq as a large cruiser (Indian, for example). (I'm referring to real speed, not what the speedo says)

Hi,
some more THEORETICAL figures for each gear. First is for USA version and second for Europe/Australia.
Yep it would be nice for someone to put the f3 on a dyno and show us some real data. Lamonster may take up the challenge for us, but I doubt if he can get a big rear sprocket version to compare for us non USA residents.
I am off course presuming all versions have the same diameter rear wheel and all gear ratios are the same across the us Euro/Aust versions.. I am guessing that I can expect close to 200kph in Aust version after all most Australian roads are down hill here in the Land Down Under! I also way less than 75kgs. US version may not have the final drive to go as fast but will get going quicker of the line
I will let you know how fast when I get my Australian one in late June 2015 (the first delivery to Australia) confirmed by my dealer, OJ may be able to get us some figures before this date as European release day could be before May 2015.
How quickly the F3 gets to these speeds is another big question? It will cost US Canadian residents about $1200 US$ to convert to the bigger rear sprocket (sprocket, belt and Belt guard etc), maybe someone will do a conversion in Us and let us know what the difference is.. Obviously a bit better fuel economy...
Buds will need to be switched to international model

The charts are helpful as long as you plan to ride in a vacuum! Air resistance and other frictions render that chart meaningless.

Hi, The top speed for F3 USA is 213KLM per hour at 8000 RPM in 6th (7000rpm =186)

The Euro / Australian version has top speed of 240kph at 8000rpm. Bigger rear sprocket! (7000RPM=210)

That's if they rev out that far.

OJ - we both get the go faster model.
I have the specs for 900,1150rpm ,1500,2000,2500,3000 etc

Confused about what you mean by the Euro / Australian version has a bigger rear sprocket?

The USA model has a rear sprocket which is larger in diameter with 89teeth, European - Australian model has bsmaller diameter with 79 teeth same front drive sprocket. Hence theoretical higher speed. Ie different final drive ratio.
yes it is theoretical but it is better than guessing 312 Kph.

what's the reasoning for the two sprocket sizes in different parts of the world?:dontknow:

The US version of the F3 has the bigger rear sprocket; the Euro version shares it's gearing with the RT...
My guess: the potential for higher cruising speeds.
And these bikes will NOT approach redline in 6th gear...
Aerodynamically; they are "Barn Doors"...

Top End vs. Cruising Speed

I am less interested in the top end speed attainable. The rpm at a given cruising speed is more important and relevant to me. This has a lot more to do with passing power and hill climbing ability as well as fuel consumption. The bigger sprocket will enhance passing acceleration and climbing grades while robbing a bit of fuel economy. Considering the F3's lighter weight than an RT, it should accelerate very quickly.

Yep - may not get to the RPMs but RPM through direct drive gearing will/must equate closely to the road speed per given in the table(give or take 4% on speedo). eg they do not lose rpm to final drive as they do not have a torque converter slippage etc is minimal through drive train.
Changes to Tyre size diameter obviously will change things slightly. The tables are RPM and speeds as per BRP technical presentation and checked on
Speedo's in Australia must read with in 4 % plus or minus. Our police force with radar use this tolerance ie they cannot book you unless you are 8% over allowing for your speedo error. The police usually use 10%.
Also if you look at the part catalogue for the 1330 RT Se6 they have a some different part numbers for the Aust/ Brazil against the USA. Any explanations for this??? F3 same gears now.

Yep It would be good if BRP provided us with the Coefficient of drag Cd (The aerodynamic abilities). SUV average Cd.30. pickups Cd .40 Toyota prius Cd .26
It appears from specs that it should at least rev out to 5000 in ALL gears and a YES THEORETICAL yes in a vacuum if you can get air to it or on a dyno rev out to 7250 given the max torque etc
Torque 96 lb-ft. (130.1 Nm) @ 5000 RPM
Power 115 hp (85.8 kW) @ 7250 RPM.

YES and YES In the real world we will just have to see what it does... air density, air temp, altitude, road surface, ****ty petrol and larger passengers etc etc etc also affect real top speed.
As an automotive Engineer there are about 87 variables I can run through some simulation / 3d CAD programs solidworks, cadwork, autocad but gearing ratios gives a good start as gear ratios do not change with any significance through the RPM range.

I have co-designed (with an electrical engineer friend) new ECUs for several cars WRX , Porches, Aston Martin and Ferrrai with increases of 10 to 15% so it will be good to get hold of a F3 to see if I can get those increases.
The F3S should go faster (and get there quicker than it looks) after all its not a RT.
US should be bale to change sprockets as the aprts catalogue has the 1 damper number 22 for all versions. Belt and guard are different numbers
