F3 Limited radio issues

I have a 2016 f3t with a factory installed radio and reception is not very good compared to my truck radio hopefully someone comes up with a fix.

Dealer said BRPs recommendation is to replace the shorty antenna on my F3-L with a longer one that used to be on the older models. Asked dealer if the longer antenna was as long as the antenna on the RTs and he said yes.

I fiddled led with the radio antenna yesterday on my F3-L. Disconnected the ground and cleaned the connection...didn't help. Guess I'll opt for the longer antenna with the understanding that I'll want my shorty antenna back if the longer antenna doesn't fix the problem.

Ya know, my mother used to say, "If you don't have something good to say, don't say it." Well, I've violated that a lot in my lifetime. I never did understand the radio on a motorcycle thing. No radio, no problem. The more moving parts something has, the more potential for problems. At least that's how I understand it. No offense to anyone!

I would never listen to the radio, as there is nothing, with the exception of a SF Giants game, on the radio worth listening too. So I can't say how the reception is on mine!:clap:

Partially removed the left side saddlebag on my F3-L and checked to see if the radio antenna was lose at the mounting screw. It was lose, tightened the mounting screw and the reception improved. Able to get more stations to come in clearer.

They couldn't find anything wrong with mine. A case has been opened. :banghead: They also sell Honda's. They are experiencing the same problem with the Gold Wing radio's. :chat: Tom :spyder:

The reception on my 2013 ST L is good. Almost as good as my ford escape.

What has been commonly reported by RT owners and by one STL owner, that I know of. Bad reception was caused by too much loctite on the antenna threads. Unscrew the antenna and clean off the loctite. Only apply new loctite on the last thread before tight. Reinstall. This has fixed the problem for many. It may be different for F3.

My RT has NEVER been able to pull any FM stations... I'll investigate this possibility!

I actually use the radio all the time. I have zero issues with the reception on my F3 Limited. Wish it was blue tooth but besides that I can't complain about it. Hope you get it resolved I find having the weather and music/news takes the edge off from heavy traffic riding.

Dealer opened a case with BRP for the radio. Their answer was to try a different antenna. :banghead: Same answer was given to another owner here. Dealer laughed and said that's because they(BRP) have no idea what to do. :chat: Tom :spyder:

i think i found the problem

riding today really pissed all i was doing while riding was trying to find a station . tried to remember when radio went south turned lamonster led driving lights off and radio responded . some one else please try this and let us know.

I've had the same problem with my new 2015 RT, but just thought it was typical motorcycle reception. By chance I bought a 6" antenna at a car parts store to make it less painful to put the full cover on. To my pleasant surprise, I ended up with better (not great) radio reception and a cleaner look on my Spyder. Only needed a 7mm wrench and it was a quick switch out.

Same thing is happening to me lamonster led lights on bad reception lights off radio is great.

I got a call from a friend yesterday that said he found that the LED's had caused a radio issue on a customers bike. I have not had that issue on mine or others that I have installed. The OP doesn't have any aftermarket lights so I'm not sure what the deal is here. I've not known of any LED's to effect anything like this. The H4's we sell are CAN BUS friendly. I wish I knew the answer but I don't. I'll talk with the manufacture and see if they have any ideas. :dontknow:
