• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. EBC brake pads & rotors...

Thanks for the info, I wonder if they would squeal less

Interesting question. Who knows? Someone's got to try them first. When needed, I will be the test dummy. But...it may be a while.

I've never had significant squealing EXCEPT immediately after adjusting my parking brake. I ride a little hard so it's always getting the hard braking which seems to keep the squealing at bay.

Now, I've loosened the parking brake up a bit and hardly use it anymore. Yes, it's an SM and I realize that the SE folks really don't have that option.

Not sure. Most squealing brakes are actually caused by mechanical issues (design issues). Most common ones are play in the pad retention method that allows the pads to vibrate, play elsewhere...usually in the caliper pins, or most common, tiny movements between the pad and caliper piston which cause the parts to rub together slightly. The springs on the back of some pads, insertion of insulating materials, or chemicals placed on the back of the pads, are often used to alleviate this problem. If I were installing the EBC pads (and I eventually will) I would use CRC Disk Brake Quiet or an equivalent on the back, and be done with it.

My brakes would squeal like a city garbage truck,:yikes: Then somebody on Spyder lovers said he used CRC De-Squeak, Well i tried it and it works!:2thumbs:
And it's working for many thousands of miles. It's the Caveman way i know but i always go the Caveman way first. It used to be called street mechanics before the lizard became famous:D

I love this forum because.....

I know I can get a straight answer. I took my spyder in for the 6000 mi service a month ago. I was told I had about 40% brakes left. I am a complete novice but trying to learn. Will I need just the pads or the rotors as well. I see one person saying $89 for the pads and another says $450 for rotors and pads. Big difference. I have 9000 miles on the spyder now. What will I need:dontknow:
I guess my next question would be: How difficult is it to do it yourself?
Thanks
Dick

... EBC apparently now offers pads for our ride. See page 13 of this catalog:

I've used them on other bikes... good stuff.

To whom it may concern I'm not endorsing anybody to order from, I just feel like like that other Spyder owners need a break on parts, we don't all get discounts from Spyder merchants.......!

I have put them on front. Had nasty squeel with stock brakes. It is gone with the EBC pads. 500 miles so far no squeel.

Looks like $47 a set (need 2 sets) for front and $33 for rear set plus shipping.

Where did you get this price. I see 57.00 for each side in the front and 33 for rear. I have done everything under the sun to get rid of my squeel, nothing and I mean nothing myself or the dealer have done has helped. I am almost 20K miles and on the second set of brakes now.

As for the person that asked how easy to install, very easy, easier than a car for me but that could be me.

Did you try the new pads?
