Ducati Competitor???

No thanks. That is one ugly machine. As much as I let BRP have it with there downfalls I also have to tip my hat to BRP, they make one hot looking Spyder and thats no lie.

If you watch the video the guy has issues on the corners and when riding on the beach. You think we have to shift our weight what the rider has to do on that thing makes what we do look like no movement at all. It is uuugly, I would not even consider buying that thing, even if it was cheaper than the Spyder.

This one is not my cup of tea. :spyder2: definately has better looks.

I am thinking that there will be some other reverse trikes out there before too long, and that they are just waiting to see what is happening in :spyder2: world.

:agree: they need a rider that can stay in his lane.

There is a company out there making a 250cc reverse trike, but let's face it folks... BRP has the pre-eminent product in this class, and will have for the forseeable future... Too bad they don't move ahead with innovation while they have the momentum.

Our Spyders would eat that thing.

I've seen numerous videos of that thing. It takes too much energy to lean that thing over... which equals too much time.

Bike bigots like to make comments about our Spyders - "It leans the wrong way"... "eh, it doesn't lean".... Well, when you take something with a stance as wide as ours, you don't want it leaning as the physics that involve leaning on a motorcycle don't apply to our machines even if they did lean.

Now... If you take something like that with hydraulics to get you leaned over one side to the other faster, then you might have yourself something special...and that would take a nanny as well.

I still have hope for carver/pursu.
I pre-registered and suggested that they don't market their vehicle as commuter but a enthusiastic vehicle like spyder and also consider an open air vehicle with same technology.

I like spyder as non-leaning vehicle but pursu has so much potential, I think, unlike these prototype.

Pursu is shooting for 2014 delivery date.

Current spyder will be hard to top as far as appearance goes.

I like it. Proven powerplant and with an 1100 Hypermotard motor, it would be wicked. Fine tune the cosmetics some and keep the nanny's away from it and I think it would sell over here. Spyders are nice to ride, but they are velocity-challenged for sure.
Of course, I went from a Busa to the spyder so I really notice it a lot.

I think a leaning trike could out run spyders and bikes if it's build right love the spyder but if BMW or Honda built a spyder I would be first in line I'm sure they are sitting back waiting to see just how many people the spyder attracts

When I ride my Spyder i feel that twisties is the weak point. Why do you feel you can corner faster then this? What's wrong with my Spyder?

I can corner plenty faster than that thing. Again, we don't have to exert all that energy - body or bike to lean as that thing does... You can tell it is slower in the turns than the spyder. As physical a ride the spyder is in the twisties, that frankenstein Duc would wear you out in the first mile.

Which brings me back to the idea I had of a professional film of spyders riding at their limits in the twisties.

Why do you feel your Spyder can corner faster. I can't corner with my Spyder faster, why?

I don't care for the prototype.
I would like to see someone like Kaw, Honda, that has a reputation for reliability come out with something (inline 4), for sure. Bring on the competition!
I agree speed has to do with what you are use to. Coming from a sport bike background, spyders, or at least what I have seen, are not "fast in the twisties". Maybe I just haven't seen these super spyder riders capable of such things.
Being able to lean in the corners is much faster even though you do have to use a lot of body movement.
As for straight line speed, spyders aren't even moderately FAST. Kind of like saying that the average Harley is fast. Torquie yes, fast nott. When a stock spyder can run in the 11's or better and maybe a top end of over 150mph, then they could be considered fast. It is all what your are comparing it to or what a person is use to.
Don't get me wrong, Spyders are a blast! If it didn't give me a lot of joy to ride it I wouldn't have paid the price for it, or deal with the some of their issues. Lets just not get carried away and think that they are really FAST, or handle SUPER well.

It's an interesting design... The prototype shows some promise BUT it might also be tipping its hand...
Flopping that thing from side to side in the twisties:
Either they had a rider on it who shouldn't be allowed on anything mechanized...
OR
That thing is gonna be tough to throw from side to side for sure!
You've got a lot more mass to move around, and that comes at a price!
