There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Has anyone tried the Smart Mount Backrest from Big Bike parts on the comfort seat? If so, How does it work?

Thanks for any replies?

I bought mine used for $100 plus shipping, so it was not much of a gamble. I am very pleased to say the least. The only issue is that it cannot be removed without removing the lower bolt, but I never plan on removing it, so that is no problem. I have a 2014 rt with a comfort seat.

Thanks, I'm just seeing them on ebay for about $165- $175 and thats a lot better than the $449 that brp wants for there backrest. Thats why I was curious of how they worked.

Thanks again,

Bill C.

I use a back rest because I need the support for medical issues.

I have previously used the Corbin Seat/Corbin Backrest combo and found it to be sufficient.

I currently am using a Utopia back rest on the OEM seat on my 2014. Cost about $250

I have not used the BRP version on any of my :ani29:'s, so cannot give an evaluation there. Most that have them, seem to like them though.

But is the BRP one $300 better that is the question? LOL

I think that is the question that you need to ask your self. I tried the oem backrest in the showroom, and it is great. But, with me, I only needed one to keep me from slouching, and to give me a little support. The one that I have is very good for the price, and allows me to have some extra coin for other upgrades.:ohyea:

I got my dealer to throw in a BRP backrest on the 2014 RT Limited I just bought. It's OK as-is but I wish it were adjustable. I haven't found a way to adjust backward/forward position other than possibly tilting the mounting bracket under the seat with washers. (I want mine tilted backward just a little.) Is this what others have done? Is there an easier way? Thanks.

That is the only way that we have discovered so far, on the rear two bolts use a 1/2 inch spacer. (makes a difference)

How do you mount the backrest to your comfort seat?
You have to cut a slit into the seat as instructed by the makers instructions. It is a little scary to do, but all worked well. My seat already had a slot cut into it because the previous owner had a Utopia back rest installed. All I had to do was insert the bracket and install the backrest.

Do you have any pictures of this? (One of the spacers and one of the backs results.) My BRP backrest also makes me lean forward when I push my rear all the way to the back into the seat. I need it to let me to recline slightly.

the Utopia was recommended to me as a good back rest. I don't understand why the Can Am rest is so much more expensive. Name I guess like owning a Cadillac, everything is more costly.

In in order to get a photo, I would have to take my seat off, so I will just try to explain it better, remove the backrest from the seat, there is a release catch under the seat on the backrest bracket, the foundation bracket under the seat has four bolts, two in front two in back. Remove the two in back and just loosen the two in front, place some round spacers about a 1/2 inch worth between the rear brackets and the seat foundation on each side in the rear, replace the two screws and tighten all four screws and your backrest will sit further back.

Ultimate Seat Back Rest

Bill C I know you didn't ask about this back rest but I thought I would throw in my 2 cent's. I had the Can Am back rest and it took a couple thousand miles before I got use to it. Have a Ultimate seat on my Syder now and the Back Rest definitely make the ride more comfortable, I THINK! The back rest moves just about any way you would want it, plus it pulls out and easy to store. Only down side is they don't put plastic between the seat cover and foam for water protection so you have to cover it in the rain but keeps it cooler in summer. Really like mine.:yes::yes:
