• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sorry Joe, I didn't mean to be rude. I was only making an observation. It wasn't directed at you.

"Thank you Bob. I know I can always count on you and a small handful of other people to provide REAL answers in this cesspool of misinformation.

Pam"

Hard to read that as anything but rude and directed at me seen as i was the only one who offered a response.

For my 2012 RS SE5 one of the first thing my Dealer said when doing the final walk around after purchase is "Do Not over fill the gas tank" and "do not use the power switch to turn the Spyder on and Off". Not sure if its a myth or not. Never did either of those things and never had a problem.

I guess I'd forgotten how overly sensitive you are.......

It had to do with an ongoing dialog from a technical forum that I belong to. It was a general statement, and a compliment to Finless Bob. But if you want to believe it was an insult directed at you, then so be it.

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:, it is what it is. I will go have a snickers bar to ease my overly sensitive feelings.

In the for what it's worth column, i am not mad about about it, just making a point

Oh brother.... total myth! Over filling the tank is a myth and in no way causes this!

But anyway....

The truth is..... if it is a 998 his Evap canister is saturated and needs to be replaced and the check valve and fuel venting system checked.

Yes this is a problem on all 998's and unless you have a 2013 and can get the full recall done that stops this from happening, it won't be the last time you have to deal with this.

Bob

Bullseye.

I distinctively remember reading somewhere "NOT" to overfill the gas tank on models before 2015. Not sure of the legitimacy of that, but I don't think you should overfill ANY gas tank. JMO!

It was something BRP and the dealers were saying to avoid the implications that there was something wrong with the fuel and evap systems. DOT proved them wrong and forced BRP to issue the recall.

This myth was debunked with research and proof by the DOT. Can we please put this one to bed.

What are the pros and cons of this surgical procedure?

It will eliminate the drips and to some extent reduce the fumes AFTER YOU PARK. It will still belch fumes while riding as the system is still boiling the gas but they are not being stored in the canister to condense.

I had done this to both of our 2013s prior to the recall. It helped but did not fix. The canister was replaced as part of the recall and the problems never returned so the canister is still there.
